    Re: Privilege

You need insurance, not documents, to legally drive the car. Have a look on askmid.com and, if the car is registered there as properly insured you can tax the vehicle online and legally drive it. If it's not registered as insured, you need to ask why.

If you wish, you can ask for a cover note to be emailed or faxed to you but it's askmid.com records that matter.

It is not unknown for royal mail to take a couple of weeks to deliver first class mail. It usually turns up in a day or two but not always.

I bought car insurance for 2 cars on a Thursday. Both via money supermarket, one from Bedford Insurance and the second policy from Privilege. Both were to start on Saturday. I informed Privilege that the car insured by them was a new car to be taxed and picked up on the saturday. No problem, both insurers said, documents would be posted 1st class on the Thursday so should receive them by Saturday, however to please allow 7 working days for delivery as is customary. Friday am, documents from Bedford Insurance arrived - well done Royal mail. Monday am, still no documents from Privilege, new insured car still at dealers. Called Privilege, say they had posted out documents as agreed but now have a 'new' deal (started on this very Monday morning apparently) to send information to car dealer but will cost £9.50. I declined this deal and they agreed to resend documents, by first class, post. Tuesday, still no documents, called again. Another deal - £25ish to send documents recorded delivery(?) and by the way can also give me a discount on breakdown cover(??!!). So I suggested that as the first product sold to me had now been lost in the post twice over the last few days, I'd pass on this deal. They did however agree to resend (3rd time) the said documets. It is now wednesday (5 days after the documents were initially sent vis first class post - car still sitting in dealers showroom, already sent out NCD confirmation for other car to Bedford Insurance) and I am yet to receive any document from Privilege. Oh yes and when I asked if start date of insurance could be altered - seeing as I do not have the car, was told that I would have to cancel existing insurance (which I am yet to receive) and guess what? Yep this cancellation will cost £26.00. I intend to complain and will be demanding compensatin also will 'twitter' it. Anyone had/having similar?
