    Hi Richard

Must confess have no knowledge of Bank of Ireland Mortgages but have added their bamking guide to this reply which may help you. As far as the Post Office is concernd my dealings with them are that my home and contents are insured with them and have found them to be very good, in fact when I came to renew this year they gave me a small drop in price wich in this day and age can't be bad.

Hope my post in some small way helps.

Post Office / Bank of Ireland Mortgage

    Hello,

I am considering getting a mortgage with the post office. Has anyone got any experience of this? Looking at their website the whole process/design seems a bit dated. I am happy to go with them as the rate is lower but if anyone has any real horror stories then it might make me change my mind.

Interestingly I found out that the Post Office is a front for the Bank of Ireland. Looking directly with them the rate is 0.1% lower and there are lower fees. I have two questions here:

1_ Has anyone had any experience with the Bank of Ireland? I think all their branches are in Ireland (I live in England) so everything would be done over the phone.

2_ With all due respect to Bank of Ireland if anything goes wrong with them how does that affect my mortgage? Would it be transferred to another provider? Would I be safer going with the Post Office as they are in between?

    Thanks

    Richard
