    Poll idea 1: is it fair to expect mortgage applicants to pay for the lender's valuation survey? This typically costs between £400 and £600 but is of no benefit to the applicant, except perhaps to confirm the purchase price is a fair one; however, if the valuer recommends the price is too high or even that the lender does not proceed, the lender says "fine" and thanks very much to the applicant for paying their costs and administration charages. The poor borrower is left out of pocket.

    Poll idea 2: Will Home Information Packs be a waste of time and money, and discourage people from putting their property on the market?
