I have switched to alliance & leicester from a nationwide flexaccount so far no problems, my wages are in on time and they have switched over all my direct debits, I did'nt have to do anything.

Re: Pocket £100 by switching your current account

I tried to take up this offer yesterday and today but was told that I can't get the £100 for switching as I haven't lived in the my current address for 5 years.

I only discovered this after I entered my personal and address details and received a 'Sorry page not available message'. After several unsuccessful attempts I called the number provided on screen to log my problem. After three calls, being transferred to the personal loans department, the internet banking department and the Liverpool office (!), I was told I can't make an application online as I haven't lived in my current address for 5 years, as the online system doesn't have the capability to take multiple addresses. This is despite the deal summary page stating:

"You will need the following information when filling in your application. - All the addresses you have lived at for the last five years (including postcodes)."

I was then told that I am unable to take up the offer over the phone or in a branch.

I am disappointed, as I'd heard good things about Alliance and Leicester from my sister and have a perfectly good credit rating. I guess I will now wait until First Direct offer a similar deal and see what their system will take!
