Re: PLEASE HELP! Claim against me...

Firstly, please can you provide details of the accident itself. What happened? What were the circumstances? Did you exchange insurance information? When you heard from these people, did you refer them on to your insurer?

Do you have any details of "the claims service" - did their letter have a web address or anything like that on it?

It may sound as if I'm asking for quite a bit of information, but to give any clear answer (and the reasons for it) I do need to know.

    PLEASE HELP! Claim against me...

    Hello all

Hoping someone can help me here, I had a crash on 27 May 2008 and reported it straight to my insurance company (Budget). I received a letter shortly after from the 'The Claims Service' basically saying that they understad that I was at fault and that they would be dealing with any claim that comes my way.

I didn't here anything after that and subsequently received my 2 years no claims bonus when my insurance expired at the end of July. I called budget to query this and they informed me that they had not received a claim against the insurance.

I applied for insurance through Fresh Insurance and advised of my two years no claims and declaired my accident on the 27th May. My insurance cost £400 and I didn't think anything more about the accident.

I have today received a letter from Johnson Yates Limited acting for Pitney Bowes Ltd advising that they are instructed to claim damages on behalf of their client.

    My questions are:

I'm sure I am not personally liable for the damages as this will be covered by my former insurance company?

I had an excess on my former policy, will I now become liable for this?

Will I now lose my no claims and as a result be faced with an increased premium with my new insurers?

Could I claim that the insurers of the other party are negligent as they have taken nearly 5 months to deal with the claim?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Cheers

    Rhys
