Pipex is absolutely mindbogglingly ****
Joined Pipex about 4 months ago, just about one of the worst decisions possible I could have made, what an appallingly bad ISP provider!! Absolutely unbelievable!!
If you want 4mb Pipex promised broadband connectivity, whatever you do, steer extremely clear of this company!! 4 months into the service and I promise you a dial up connection is faster!! Often we have to wait 45 seconds just to wait for a new webpage to load on the screen.
On top of that, the connection is lost on average for us at least half a dozen to a dozen times per day, then we have to shut down the computer entirely and do a reboot right from the start, to say it's infuriating is just an absolute understatement.
We have contacted Pipex Homecall a number of times, each time on their 0845 number for which we are charged, and still months later, despite telling them of our problems over and over, still are receiving this extraordinarily bad service.
Tempted by the offer of free telephone calls 24/7, 7 days a week? DON'T BE!! Whatever you do, choose any other provider but this company, if you do join them, all you'll be giving yourself is added heartache and often, loss of data, when the connection is suddenly without warning is lost altogether. The worst we experienced recently was not being able to log back in for a whole 16 hours, the next day, finding out that it had affected every Pipex Homecall customer in the country. Not even an apology from the company!!
Too, don't believe the utter baloney about the much cheaper call charges, it took Pipex Homecall on my account 3 months to get the billing correct.
The trouble is, I'm now hooked into an 18 month contract with this bunch of loons, I'd like to get out of it under breach of contract and services which were promised, not being provided - Is there ANY way I can do this?
Seriously, it's like going to a car showroom, ordering a new car and then upon delivery finding that each wheel, rather than being perfectly round, ensuring a smooth ride, instead has the width of the tyres 3cms wider than the vertical height of the same tyres on all four wheels. If a car was supplied like that, you would think you would have every right to say, 'Oi!!', to the company, 'put this right or else'!!
Pipex Broadband - about as useful as a concrete hang glider - thats my opinion, steer absolutely clear of them, dreadful service provider.
One very unhappy customer!!

Re: Pipex is absolutely mindbogglingly ****
Regrettably you are just another victim of this charlatan of a company. OFCOM couldn't give a monkeys and CISAS are not worth the forest of paperwork you have to go through to get justice.
Write to them citing the Trading Standards line of "not receiveing the service you have paid for" and then cancel all direct debits with them after the one month notice. Also, contact your local Office of Fair Trading and explain your situation to them.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not get fobbed off with the e-mail complaint route that Pipex adopts. Write to their head office in Stoke Mandeville ONLY and send everything by recorded delivery. Hopefully this will reduce your financial punishment from this iniquitous bunch of ne'er-do-wells.
Good luck.
For every positive action, there's an equal and opposite government plan.

Re: Pipex is absolutely mindbogglingly ****
I think very little of their way of dealing with complaints. I wrote them a letter based on my complaint of overcharging, sent it first class recorded delivery and asked for a written response. Today I receive an email from 'billing', not billing AT pipex or anything remotely linked to them, and this when I ask for a written reply.
They basically say they won't refund any money, and claim the email I received from them in which I was wrongly advised a few months ago doesn't exist so they are not going to do anything about it. I also said I wished to cancel and request my MAC code, this has been ignored too!
I can't wait to get shot of them now being honest.

Ill keep saying it but they are not all that bad!!! The complaints that most people send in are for billing and not for the speed of the service. If you have a problem with the speed you should keep pestering tech support and they will ring you back...

If you are having problems I suggest you get in touch with Ofcom and let them sort it out.

I've put together the reply along with emails I've received which back up my case (including the ones they say never existed) and forwarded them to consumerdirect who advise me they'll pass it on to trading standards.
On top of this I finally mange to get logged into mypipex and discover they are now charging me an extra £7 now £40pm for the same service which I'm being over charged for in the first place!! No notification that this was going to or has taken place.
I'm sure some people are perfectly happy with Pipex and only have minor problems, however I unfortunately don't seem to be one of them.

Most of the problems people have with Pipex is billing. They bought Bulldog's residential customers a while back and have been trasferring people onto the Bulldog LLU network for their Internet.
Thay have also been trying to get everyone on the same admin system which is where the whole thing falls over... If you can put up with the customer service (or lack there of) the network is in my opinion the best in the UK. I have been with Bulldog despite their questionable customer service for about 4 years. The only thing that would make me move away would be if cable was installed in my area...

Re: Pipex is absolutely mindbogglingly ****
I was a customer of Pipex for three years and to be honest i did'nt have problems with them either billing or connetion via broadband.
I left them late last year to go to AOhelL , mistake number one !!!
Pipex did actually offer me two months free internet with a promise to keep my payments the same as AOL but i refused. I'm glad i did by the sounds of it. Thye did right to me after i cancelled their direct debit asking me to pay up cos i missed a payment!! how i can i miss a payment when its cancelled?
Anyway i'm free of Pipex and joined Eclipse, and the yhave been excellent so far. I would recommend them to anyone. Their technical line was very helpful and quick to answer, not like them idiots at AOhelL !!!

Re: Pipex is absolutely mindbogglingly ****
Its nice to see someone else who has some good experience with Pipex... Granted I wasnt a direct customer of theirs till they took over Bulldog but I have not had any problems since then.

AOhelL - that's clever.
They are giving me grief even though I am no longer a customer.

I see what you mean. Don't know how I missed that; I must be slipping!
Very amusing though. Thanks for that!

Re: Pipex is absolutely mindbogglingly ****
Dear friend, I am preparing to file the case against this bitches, Just find a service provider like Sky or some one and give your existing telephone number they will do the rest and pipex get f***all. By law you cannot terminate a contract but you can continue the contract with another service provider. Good luck. You can do it.
