They have to send you one legally now within 5 days of you asking for one.

I would suggest you stick with BT if possible, it takes any LLU operators or resellers out the loop so if there is a problem its easier to fix, especially as you live in a village and not a city.

    Pipex Homecall

    Hi

I have read with great interest all the Pipex comments especially as I am new to this forum (well any forum come to that!).
I have been with Homecall for 4? years now and we can only get half a meg broadband in our village irrespective of the ISP.

I have had problems in the past but for the last year things have run smoothly until the second week in Februay 2007 when I suddenly could not send email, only receive it. Several weeks of tech support checking everything, settings, programs, firewalls etc etc and I was then advised to consult a computer engineer which I did. He could not rectify the fault and so formatted my machine. Needless to say the fault still remains and my engineer has even spoken to Pipex but still with no solution. We have also connected another clean machine but still encounter the same problem. Pipex are still saying it is something to do with the computer or email programs used. They refuse to accept any responsibiltiy or refund the cost of the engineer - an unecessary expense on their advice.
They say because they can generate an email from the webmail in my account then there is nothing wrong. When I try to send from the webmail account I can only send a smail email of 13? lines, anymore and it just will not go.

I have asked for my MAC number and was told I was locked into a contract which is ludicrous as the 12 month contract ended 2? years ago! However they say because I upgraded to a 1 meg service then I was in a contract. I said how can I have upgraded as I can only receive 576kb! 1hour of wrangling later they tell me my MAC will be received in 5 days.

I have cancelled the DD but after reading everyone's comments am concerned as to whether I will actually receive an MAC number
and who on earth do I choose as my new ISP as there seems to be problems with setting up/transferring and the service with them all!?????????

Exasperated! Any comments, help or advice gratefully recieved! Thank you
