Re: Phones 4 U Problem with insurance

Do you even know anything about the company you work for? Ofcom and Trading Standards received over 2,000 complaints about Phones 4u between December 2007 and February 2008 which prompted the investigation. Thats a massive amount of complaints in such a short space of time. They were found to be breaching several consumer laws which is why only 5months ago they took part in a legally binding contract to improve or further action would be taken. I do not believe that in 5months that Phones4U has completely turned around and stop being a bunch of cowboys. If you are staff should you not be setting an example? You are making yourself and your work look bad. You keep saying that is old news but the legally blinding contract wasnt put in place until the end of last year!

To be fair Phones4U will have to stop breaking consumer laws as they will not want anymore bad publicity or a serious fine so fingers crossed that improvements are being made and are have already been made. If not then i would encourage everyone to keep lodging complaints with Ofcom and Trading Standards.

Re: Phones 4 U Problem with insurance

I have had and am still having trouble with Phones 4u!!

And before anyone who works for them starts, it IS their fault!!!

I was given incorrect information from the sales adviser from the beginning! I wanted to keep my number and was told this was not possible. I said I could get my PAC code, but he insisted that I couldnt keep my number (I later called vodafone, only to be told that I could have kept my number if the adviser had done it there and then!!)

He then persuaded me to go with a contract higher than I wanted to spend claiming that it would cover all that I had said I wanted. This was not true as the contract I was on included voicemail and picture messages, which this one does NOT!!

He then told me my first bill would be for about a months line rental, maybe a little more… WRONG it was for 2 months in one go!!!!

THEN I call customer service to make a complaint and I’m told the best that they can do is to send me a £25 cheque to cover the picture message cost I may have.

4 weeks later, no cheque, so I call again and they said it was sent (yea right). They say they will send it again. 2 weeks later, still NOTHING!! So I call again this morning and was told the operator put in the wrong amount and finance have queried it, so thats why I havent got it and it may take ANOTHER 10 days.
When I started telling the operator I was appalled with their service throughout and went through all the details, saying that I actually wanted to cancel the contract as I thought I had been missold it, he said that the notes said the £25 was compensation and that this had all been resolved before!!!

Oh no no no!! So I still dont even have the small amount of compensation AND I’m stuck on this crappy contract for another 15 months, plus I have had to make several expensive phone calls!!!

    NOT a happy customer!!!

    Phones 4 U Problem

I to have had a problem with phones for you. I went to them to change my contract in the last week in November. They went to put me on orange (was on Voda) butand i was told that was all ok and i would receive my phone in the next 3-5 days, 5 days later I hadn't receiced even a copy of a contract let alone a handset. I contacted them to inform them of this so they could check to see it had been dispatched, only to be informed that I had been declined, funny I thought as I had been told it had all gone through, the sales persons response to this was that they would just put it through another supplier, this supplier being Vodafone. I querried this as I was currently on Vodafone and needed to keep my number as it is my work number(self employed builder) and my website, van and all paperwork and adverts contain this number and thopught you couldn't take a number from 1 network and transfere to the same on a new contract. I was advised this was possible all I had to do was call them and it would be done. Now go forward 6 weeks to when my existing contract could be canceled I call Vodafone to transfere the number only to be told this isn't possible and that its somethings p4u do quite often telliong customers they can as they earn more for a new contract than a upgrade, which is what they should have done mine as, as the new contract offers no real advantage to the one I was already on. So back to p4u tell theym what happens and they inform me that i was told I couldn't take the number over even though that was the 1 thing I checked. the new sim card is still sitting in the box and has never been inserted into the phone and I am now fighting with p4u to get this sorted and would love any help some 1 can offer.

Re: Phones 4 U Problem with insurance

I am having a problem with phones 4 u, i was mis-sold an insurance policy on my contract phone.

i have also had to return the handset as it was faulty, and had to go back to the shop 3 times in order to get an exchange, having been given incorrect information.

When i purchased my contract in february, i felt i was pressured into taking out an insurance policy, at the cost of £9.99 monthly. I WAS NOT told about the excess on this policy. the sales person told me that should i need to make a claim, i would get a completely free replacement handset.

i am now trying to claim, and have been told i must pay a £50 excess in order to have my phone repaired.

i am not happy with the customer service i have recieved from phones 4 u, and i will NEVER use them again.

    CEO Mr Tim Whiting

    MD Brendan Sweeney

Why don't you phone 0870-905 0404 which is the switchboard at the head office and ask to speak to one of them about your problem. Just be polite but persistent. Ask for their e-mail address if they are not there.
