When I waas Buying the fone, The sales person kept pressuring me into buyin that contract and when i did, he of all people refused to help me cancel the contract. Can u actaully believe that???

I am still a new customer and I tried ever possible way to get out of this contract but all is in vain..The store manager kept tellin me today that i was wasting my time and that the headoffice wont buy out the contract..Im devastated..Is there any option left for me???

And before I forget, they put me on 3 network because they knew that I couldnt refund and trust me, they didnt explain anythin to me!! just made me sign the paperwork!! talk about, consumer betrayal!!! meanwhile, I called 3 and they were like, it was possible for me to switch to a cheaper contract if i was willing to remain on 3.. But phones4u wont let me..so that means, i'll be stuck with em for 18months if I dnt get out of this contract...

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

""DID YOU KNOW THAT PHONES 4U AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT YOU SIGN FOR ALL BELONG TO ONE COMPANY.. DONT BE FOOLED BY THINKING THAT YOU HAVE A SEPERATE COMPANY FOR YOUR INSURANCE OR REPAIR OR PHONES4 U... IT IS ACTUALLY ALL ONE COMPANY... CAUDWELL GROUP !!!!""

are you out right stupid or something, if you know your stuff about phones4u you would clearly know that that it hasnt been the caudwell groupd for around 2 years..

I apologise you have recieved bad customer service from phones4u but that is not a reflection for the whole company, you have just been unlucky with the people you dealt with, just deal with it..

Every person has had a problem with any company, everyone has views just keep yours to yourself especially if they are that negative!!!

"thanx for ur reply. yeah, ur absolutely right about P4U's own insurance co - Policy Admin Services or PAS. i work in a bank and almost all P4U customers have direct debits set up for £7.99 or £9.99 on their accounts without their knowledge and lemme tell u, no one is amused! same with pcworld infact. also lately, i'm sure P4U has been conning polish people left, right and centre into taking out insurance policies. most dont even know what it is for until we point it out and by then a few payments have already been taken!"

so hold on, so the bank you work for, you're saying that your bank has never excessively charged anyone or there are loads of customers who have been treated bad??

ITS A CAPITALIST COUNTRY, DEAL WITH IT!! IF YOU GOT BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE SIMPLY DONT GO THERE!!

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

    Hi

Have you got out of your contract?

I am interested to know how to get out of a contract.
Well my daughter actually. She has just received some appalling service from P4U which involved them selling faulty phones and promising to cancel a contract after the 14 day cooling off period.
Obviously they denied making such a promise and ended up making my daughter cry phoning me to let me know
what happened. I am disgusted the way they have treated my daughter and concerned P4U are selling faulty phones.

Can you help and advise how I might get this contract cancelled.

    Thanks

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

hi having worked for p4u i know how they can be complete b*st*rds...!

if you are past the 14 day "cooling off period" then there is no chance of getting out of it what you should do is give negative feed back when they contact you via text it should be fairly soon also call head office and make a complaint against the store.

doing this should hopefully make them fail their nps (net promoter score) score which means they all lose their commision if you want to hurt theese people then go for the wallet beleve me the so called top earners will hate that.

at the end of the day all you are is commision they proberbly sold you a duff phone to make around £13.50 for themselves.

also if you feel that you have ben miss-sold then call ofcom and the fsa because no dout you were given insurance you didnt need.

if this is the case then cancel it asap as it will lose the store money

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

Phones 4 you told me blatant lies to miss-sell me a Lebara Moile Sim card. I went into the store to buy an Orange Camel card to call France. The girl told me that they didnt sell Orange Sims but that the Lebara Card was cheaper. She showed me that Orange was 20p a min whilst Lebara was only 15p (it cost £20 for the card with £10 credit) . When I got home I discovered that the Orange tariff was only 10p a min. I called the store and was promised that Head office would raise a cheque for £20, I wouldnt be a out of pocket. Well 2 - 3 weeks as passed and guess what no cheque. I called trading standards but with only verbal evidence theres nothing they can do. I obviously intend to contact all the consumer groups (TV etc) but I also intend taking small claims action, so I need to gather evidence. So If you have been told lies and are willing to supply a statement etc please contact me. | also intend sitting in the shop until they throw me out ant then inform other passing "customers" etc . I know its only a small matter but I'm just so ANGRY.

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

Yes I would confirm the treatment my daughter received at the hands of these con merchants.
It's not a small matter at all. If you work in customer service for a good company, they will tell you
every customer matters and their customers are number 1.
Not like these idiots who take your money and run.

I would recommend going to the store see the manager and call their head office customer services
while your in the shop. Explain to them that you were lied to and that you will be reporting that
store to trading standards. See how you go from there, they may just give you a new sim card
    but don't hold your breath..

    Good luck

Re: Phones 4 U Problem with insurance

    Hi,

This is a long story but i'm owed a lot of money by either vodafone or phones 4 u and im unsure what the hell i should do.

August 2007, i go into phones 4 u i get a samsung, i just wanted a phone that wasnt a brick and a contract because its a pain to keep topping it up. I took out the insurance they said after a month i could cancel it.

A month later i ring the number phones 4 u gave me to cancel my insurance i get the usual 'are you sure what if your phone gets stolen' gunf. Sods law my phone breaks a few months alter i pop into vodafone or phones 4 u im unsure, they tell me well my phone will be sent off. My contract was £40 a month id paid on the dot everytime yet no cover phone was offered. i was still paying for a phone which i wasnt going to be having for two weeks. I get it back its 'water damaged' so not repairable even tho its still under warranty.

Phones 4 u tell me well buy another contract lower that tariff and then eventually buy yourself out even tho i had another 9 months left to pay. I get a samsung soul i take out the insurance for that as well. A month later same deal i cancel my insurance with the same number they gave me before. They said 'you never had insurance with us for thata phone' i was quite suprised but it didnt matter cos i didnt want it anyway.

Anyway i know the story is getting on a bit but ive had such a headache with this i want to makre sure every detail that i remember is correct!

The bank im with tell me im getting charged since august 2007 for phone insurance and again for the samsung soul phone i got in around may 2008. i say well this is a joke because i cancelled the insurance for 2007 in 2007 and i rang up to canel the other insurance but they told me i didnt have any.

So i go to vodafone who im with they say not our problem which is all i ever hear from them, go to phones 4 u.I want to get my money back because i was insured in the first place so did not need to buy myself another contract. And i tried to cancel my insurance so they've been charging me even tho i told them to cancel it. £40 a month since august 2007-september 2008.

I go to phones 4 u (ive had a lot of problems with them as well) so im waiting. they tell me to ring this number i tell them where to shove it ebcause i always ring that number and am usually on hold for 20 -30 mins before i get to speak to someone. whilst on their phone to i think vodafone i explain whats happened, i then get transferred to another department, i then have ti explain the very long story all over again because no one seems to understand whats going on. Ive been conned out of i dont know £700 (because i was still paying for two phone contracs as well as the insurance) thats whats going on. i get very very ancy and agitated so much so the instore man comes over to see if im ok.

He then gets me to tell him (the man in the store) whats wrong even tho ive lready discussed with his work collegues what the hell was going on. I slam down the phone ive been in the shop for around an hour getting no where. and in vodafone store for around half an hour getting no where. The man in phones 4 u tells me its phones 4 u's insurance that i had and that i was given vodafone insurance as well as policy admin (their insurance) and when i cancelled it i must have just cancelled one lot and not the other. so i say ok well then i waant a refund for that phone you sold me or the insurance money paid back. they say well! no because unless you state you had insurance its not our problem or if you can prove you canceled the insurance then we cant help.

So i have to go back into the vodafone store and this poor bloke had to go through around 2 years worth of phone calls to see if i had indeed made any phone calls to this number. He couldnt find a thing.

I leave it but then i get a package at my door. This was only a few months ago. Im not expecting anything from vodafone so i dont accept it and say look im sorry do you have any information because vodafone and phones 4 u are robbing buggers. they of course have no information so i ring up vodafone. apparantly my old contract phone from 2007 had been upgraded and they were charging me £35 a month for a really crap mins and calls rate. naturally im on the phone for about an hour i get tossed between one end of the company to the next. They say well only you can authorise it. and i said wll i have a phone i dont want anything to do with the phone you've just upgraded ididnt even know it was due an upgrade! the sooner i can end my contract the better!

So they say ok you wont be charged and your phone will be cancelled! im like yes! finally im down to only one contract! even tho im still owed money!

Then i get a bill through im charged £5 or something invoice for a phone i didnt request and in the scheme of things it didnt seem too high but then a few months later i was still !! being charged for my 2007 contract even tho i could and had cancelled it.

So i was back o nthe phone again to vodafone 20 mins of being on hold then a further 15 when i actually get to talk to someone. i say look ive had a lot of problems with you adn phones 4 u comapny. i didnt request and upgrade yet im being charged for the invoice i want that taken off. they say ok. and i cancelled my contract . they say well we did not recieve a letter 30 days bfore you can cancel your contract. i go blistic! (even tho i know its not her fault) i say well they told me nothing about that on the phone! this is ridiculous ive cncelled it.

anyway i get a refund so thats fine. But has anyone else had a similar problem? have i just been VERY unlucky it just seems like one thing aftre another after another! nothing seems to be simple. and im still owed a very large sum of money!!!!! any ideas??

    Thanks

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

What you could do is just go to your bank stop the transactions from phones 4 u, you may be blacklisted from most if not all networks but you can still go for pay as you go. My boyfriend is on 02 pay as you go, if he tops up £15 every month or something he gets free calls evenings and weekends. I wouldnt go with vodafone they've ripped me off royally nad im unsure about other networks so cant advise you properly there. There is light at the end of the tunnel ! :) But thats my only suggestion really go straight to your bank and cancel transactions if possible,

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

Id love to try and help, but i think i got a bit lost on what happened. A couple of things however, i wouldnt advise cancelling your dirct debit with your bank. This will seriously effect your credit score and you will be unable to get loans or a morgage . Secondly vodafone will sell your debt to a collection agency and they will hassle you for money and may take you to court. On to insurance, this is where i lost you a bit, the cover that phones 4 u offer , does cover water damage, if it got sent off to the repair centre and they told you it was water damage, all you would have had to do is phone P.A.S. and they would have arranged a replacement phone ( with a £50 excess ). If you cancelled the policy, your out of luck with that. Here's where it can get confusing, at the begining of your contract, you may have recieved a phone call from some one claiming to be your insurance company offering it to you for cheaper. These are fraudsters, they may even claim to be vodafone or thge p4u insurance company, they arnt. They may tell you to cancel your original policy and sting your for £80 and then you will never hear from them again. ( who'd they get your number? its to do with the way vodafone numerically produce numbers in sequence ). As far as not having a phone when its sent off for repair, im affraid thats correct in the way that is, you see the contract is with your sim card, not with the phone. The phone is mearly a tool given to you as incentive for the contract, but its the actual sim you have the contact with. On to Pay as you go, thats ok for low users, but call chagres are more expensive than on contract, so if your a high user then it pays to go onto contract. In the futre if your saving focused try a sim only deal, there is no term of contract and very good value. The one thing i would say where you may have got mis lead by both voda and p4u, is when they offered you a second contract and ' buy ' you out off the original. It can be done , but it can be quite confusing for customers, and 9 months is quite a long time to do that with. I woulldnt offer a complete buy out for any more than 6 months, any longer than that iand id make sure the customer realises , they would have to pay some towards the cost of it ( some people are willing to however), addtionally, vodafone might still try to upgrade your original phone as they may not be aware your have had a second line. be carefull agreeing stuff over the phone. One last genral tip, if any network phones you and offers you some credit back ( normally around £25 ) say know, they will lock you into a further 6 months of your contract i.e. an 18 month would then become a 24 month. If you need any more help let me know

    Re: Phones 4 U Problem

First of all i would have to say your main and biggest problem is with Phones4U. Even through your Network is Vodafone and ultimately they hold your contract, the insurance you took was with Phones4U. The Vodafone network will have their own direct insurance and Phones4U will have their own separate insurance policy which is the one you selected so Vodafone will have no record whatsoever of any insurance policy, what you paid etc.

If you have cancelled your insurance policy after 14days then you need would be liable for the next 30days and then should be completely cancelled. If this has not been done, i would escalate the matter. If the person you are dealing with cant, or wont help you then ask to speak to a manager or their manager's manager. If that mangaer cant help you then ask how you can write or email an offical complaint. Pester Phones4U so they know you wont go away and keep a record of dates, times and who you spoke to. Dont be afraid to write in an offical complaint that you are gaining legal advice and do not intend to let the matter drop. Plus all calls should be recorded or at least noted so Phones4U should have some sort of record you called to cancel.

Generally speaking if your phone goes faulty then it would be your point of sale that would repair/replace so i would imagine this would have been handled by Phones4U but i could be wrong, Vodafone may have accepted your handset to be sent way? Either way if they advised the phone had come back as water damaged and not covered until the manufactures warranty then they should have advised you that you can send the phone away yourself for a second check by the manufacturer themselves, in your case Samsung. You could have phoned Samsung, they would then ask you to send the phone to a Samsung repair centre and they would either repair/replace or confirm it was actually water damage. You should have been advised of this as good customer service.

I think being advised to take out a second contract is highly irresponsible. It was a waste of money, even if you are on a low tariff when you buy out the contract. Lets say £25 X 9months = £225. For that price you could have bought a decent prepay handset and carried on using the contract sim without having to pay for a second contract. Phones4U should not have advised you to take a second contract unless you had requested this yourself.

With regards to the cancelling and 'upgrade', this is where i get a little bit confused! Sorry! After 14days of receiving your contract/phone, you are then locked into the contract regardless whether the phone/sim isnt being used anymore. You would still be liable for the full term. With any contract you need to remember to issue 30days notice in writing to cancel the contract otherwise it would simply keep carrying on month to month. Always send it by recorded delivery. If you dont write to cancelt the contract then yes they will keep billing you. If you did issue 30days notice by writing or if they accepted this by phone, again the calls should be recorded and your account noted so you would be entitled to a refund if they did carry on billing you. Why they sent you a phone out of the blue as an upgrade is highly unusual and should have offered you some sort of explanation!

Re: Phones 4 U Problem with insurance

Thats Phones4U staff for you. Excellent customer service skills as we can see. Trust this person to sell you a contract?

    http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2008/05/17/phones-4-u-uk-facing-investigation-by-ofcom-have-they-ripped-people-off/

As stated - Ofcom the UK Telecoms regulator have had a number of complaints about the alleged things said above. There are various articles online regarding the Ofcom investigations.

Yes sometimes customers are wrong and simply do not read the terms and conditions but if you read some of the posts then the complaints are regarding poor customer service and mis-selling. If you have been mis-sold or lied to by a 'sales' person then dont lie down and accept it. You should take a stand for your rights.

For those who are interested then the results of that investigation were printed only 5months ago......

    http://www.publictechnology.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=17921&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

Ofcom DID find phones4U to be breaking various consumer laws and action has been taken.
