Re: Phones 4 U Exchange Problem

this is an orange problem, as previously stated in other posts, phones 4 u is an independant, which means the networks pay them to connect people onto their network and that is it. Now this problem with your bill i have seen it happen. WHat happens is if you sign up on orange and then return to swap your phone no companies can just exchange it, they have to completely cancel the contract and start another one every time an exchange happens. Now AS soon as you sign up to orange they generate a bill which they cannot stop from going out, not even if u cancelled the contract alltogether. You need to go into phones 4 u and ask them to (quote me)....'log a call on the intranet to support central, providing the full details of both sales and what has happened, thats all that needs to be done.

Yes, I'd like to do this, but I have no idea how to get people together. There seems to be problems ranging from bad customer service, to being mis-sold contracts, to problems with insurance... and I have no idea how to organise such a thing!

I just replied to a post about Phones4U calling 999 when a customer fought for a refund so I agree with the last paragraph on the last reply.I think you should get together and go to watchdog its a terrible company

Re: Phones 4 U Exchange Problem

I have had problems with this company too. I was rung up as you were near the end of my existing contract with orange - talking of renewing contract with them, deals, cashback, so I decided to take out a new contract, again with orange.

However, one of my terms was that I wanted to keep the SAME number that I already had. I mentioned this again and again and was told again and again that I would be able to keep the same number, that the contract i had now would be finished early and the number transferred over to the new contract.

Then the new phone arrived, with a completely new sim card with a different number and was told when I rung up orange that keeping the same number would be impossible, as they can't port numbers within the company. I rang Phones 4 U on the 10th of November, they told me they had turned it into an 'escalation' and I would be rung back by a manager within 7-10 days. This call never came.

I rang them again on the 22nd, they told me they had made a reminder, that I would get a call back. No call back.

I rang again today, and was told a load of *** about how I had never asked if i could keep the same number (which I had, multiple times), and that they had listened to the call of the sale whilst they had me on hold for an insane amount of time.

The call of the sale was over 20 minutes long, so they couldn't possibly have listened to it all as I had been on the phone for only 20 minutes, and had spent 10 minutes of that explaining the situation again.

From all the other complaints a simple internet search pulls up, it seems that this godawful company constantly pull the wool over their customers eyes, fob them off with excuses, and lie to them. Once you enter into a contract with them there is absolutely no way to resolve any problems.

Re: Phones 4 U Exchange Problem

MY PERSONAL ADVICE NEVER TAKE CONTRACTS ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE OR IN THE BACK OF PAPERS.
99% OF THE TIME THE PHONES ARE NOT BRAND NEW, THEY ARE RECONDITIONED HANDSETS!! CHECK THE SMALL PRINT... THATS WHY DEALS ONLINE/PAPERS/PHONE, YOU GET SLIGHTLY BETTER DEALS.... BUT WHO DO YOU HAVE TO GO TO WHEN YOU GET A PROBLEM ???   THE PHONE!!!!
ALWAYS RENEW / BUYOUT  YOUR CONTRACT VIA  PHONES 4 U STORES!!

Re: Phones 4 U Exchange Problem

    hi

My husband had a similar problem. He was on Orange, and he recieved a call from them, asking them if he wanted to upgrade his phone.

He wanted a new phone but was only approx 6 months into his contract but assumed becuase he was a good customer he was getting a deal from them!

When he has rang Orange for infor#mation regarding his account, and when the contract comes to an end, he was told he had only just renewed it?

Apparantly they have companies that get hold of there customers numbers, offer them an upgarde and then re new the contract without the customer actually realising that they have just signed up for another 18 months!!

would be interested to know how you get on!

    Phones 4 U Exchange Problem

In July I received a telesales call from Phones 4 U, and ended up renewing my contract with them and received a handset in the post a couple of days later. I was told on the phone that I was able to exchange the handset if it wasn't for me, which I decided to do and as agreed with P4U sent the handset back in the post within 25 working days.

A while after that I called Orange to pay my monthly bill and was suddenly told that the bill was twice what I was expecting it to be and that I actually had to contracts in my name. Obviously I called Phones 4 U immediately and they said there wasn't anything that could be done as it was out of the 14 day "cool off" period and the reason I had to contracts was because I put the 2nd SIM card in my new Nokia handset and apparently I wasn't supposed to do this. Phones 4 U informed me that I was wrong putting the 2nd handset in the Nokia I received and that I should of used the original SIM card that came with the phone I exchanged. Nowhere on the paperwork did it mention that I MUST not insert the second SIM card and activate it.

We are now in October and Orange are also looking into the matter along with P4U. I have sent letters of complaint to P4U that Trading Standards have advised me to write and have heard back from P4U, they told me they were looking into it - this was on the 12th September. I have not heard anything in ages and P4U are totally uphelpful when I call them, telling me they will call back & I never receive any calls.

I am at my wits end with this and don't know what else to do??? Trading Standards have also now sent them a letter so fingers crossed I get a reponse.

Anyone had any similar trouble? Whenever I have spoken to Orange they are more than familiar with this situation and most Customer Service Representatives that I have spoken to in Orange say they have these type of queries and disputes regarding Phones 4 U & Carphone Warehouse constantly.
