    Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

Firstly a hello to all on here as this is my 1st posting on this forum..

Just a heads up about the recent cashback offer from phoneboxdirect.com..

I placed an order with them for the samsung U600 last week hoping it would be with me a couple of days as they promise delivery within 2 days..

however i gave them until today due to the bank holiday when i rang them and they told me as i have set up my payment details with a visa electron card they do not accept such cards and my order was cancelled.. neither do they accept solo or switch cards.. but what bothered me most of all is that they did'nt bother to inform me of the fact and as far as i can see, there is nothing on the website to tell anybody of this fact..

so if you have'nt recieved you phone and you entered your details using a switch, solo or visa electron card.. this is probably the reason why..

Also they say you must send original bills so all things being equal this would mean SD but they say:-

"We recommend you send all claim paperwork by recorded delivery, as proof of sending is not proof of delivery. Where an item goes missing in the post and you haven't got our valid recorded delivery signature, then the item will be regarded unclaimed."

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

I am currently in dispute with Phone box who are claiming the second page of my bill was missing from my claim.  I think I have a strong case and having checked the various Forums intend to take them to small claims court.

Win or loose I think we should all do the same as this company needs to be exposed.

I am a cash back veteran and this is my first company outside the Carphone Warehouse owned E2Save and Onestopphoneshop.  They are good and pay far more promptly than these other fly by nights!

A bad experience and never again with jokers like phone box.  When I win I will report back.

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

I've just been stung by PBD. All went well last year - cheques were received within 14 days as advertised. This year however, I had to wait over 2 months for my first cheque, and now they are saying they have not received my latest claim, and thatas a result this claim and my remaining 3 are void, meaning I have lost £336. Does anyoen have any advice? I have no proof of posting unfortunately, but their lack of flexibility is astounding. I even offered to make this claim void but then allow the next 3, but they weren't having it

It might be worth you reviewing my post "Cashback Contract Not Legal as Unfair?" (yesterday).  You may have a case that their contract is not fair and therefore, is, illegal.  Worth checking anyway.

Phoneboxdirect and Cool New Mobile are effectively the same. check out posts on Cool New Mobile. Also visit CNM forum on www.moneysavingexpert.com with regard to recent court case relating to to cashback mobile companies. As you have no proof of posting I would suggest your best bet would be to wait and see what happens as people are taking these companies to court at the moment. Be sure they will worm their way out of paying you if possible and ,to be honest, without proof of posting you are going to struggle.

I would recommend that you carry on making the appropriate cashback claims on time. Get an independant witness to watch you put in the bills etc in the envelope and send it 'signed for'. If you read the post relating to the court case on moneysavingexpert site you will appreciate that cashback 'terms and conditions' have been completely rejected as being unfair. This case and others to follow might open the door for you.

    Good luck anyway

Cheers for the advice guys. I have some leaflets about the small claims court, and I think I'm going to take this route. The punishment is incommensurate with the offense, certainly. Good idea about continuing to post the claims. Good luck to everyone else out there

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

Exactly the same has happened to me. All went well last year. My first two cashback cheques took 2 and 2 1/2 months to arrive. Now they claim my third cashback claim never arrived and that all future claims are void. I grew worried about their performance and sent the 4th claim by recorded delivery but not, unfortunately, the third one. They are obviously behaving fraudulently. I can see little we can do about it, though, except to gather evidence here and, perhaps, attempt a class action against them at a future date.

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

An update on my situation: ofcom only deal with the service providers; little interest has been shown by consumer direct; 3 (my network) are investigating. More worryingly, I have checked on my latest claim (sent recorded delivery) on the Royal Mail site. This is the result of their search to see if it has been delivered:

'A delivery was attempted for your item
    with reference DL104051924GB
    in NOTTINGHAM
    before 08:33 on 29/08/07.
Your item is now being returned to sender.

This is either because the item wasn’t picked up by the recipient, or
because we couldn't deliver it. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please
allow for at least two days before tracking the return of your item.'

It would appear that this unscrupulous company is nearing meltdown. The prospects for the recovery of our money seem bleak.

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

I've sent a complaint letter to their Stafford office (why all the offices?) giving them 21 days to settle my complaint fairly, or else I shall start legal proceedings. I'll keep you informed of how I get on.

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

Contact your local trading standards and ask for there assistance.  Also ensure that you threaten their involvement in your initial complaints letter.  PBD appear to be responding and have emailed that I should expect a response within next 3 days.  I have drafted complaint letter to Vodafone and T mobile and would urge everyone to do the same.  They should expect some responsibility for not checking there authorized suppliers.  Keep the pressure on and don't give up.  Next stop for me is CAB and small claims court.

    Re: Phoneboxdirect cashback offer.

I think you ask Royal Mail why they could not deliver. Your claims are sent to a P.O Box at their Nottingham Sorting Office. You should call the manager at this office and ask them to explain & also ask if anybody from this scam company are still collecting their mail.

    All the Best!!!
