    Re: penalty points on licence

The reason they have a bearing on any insurance quote you get is down to their claims experience with drivers with points on their licences and clean licences.

    penalty points on licence

    Hi

I had 2 lots of points (sp30) on my licence for speeding, the first lot came off over a year ago, and the 2nd lot have come off now.  I'd like to know why I have to inform the insurance companies of any penalties incurred in the last 3 or 5 years when i now have a clean driving licence.  Even although the points are no longer on my licence they still have a bearing on any insurance quote i get.  The points are there as a penalty and I don't see why I should still have to declare them when I've waited 3yrs + 1 extra to get them off.
