Re: Paying to remove prepayment meter?

    Hi shaza

We introduced a charge of £50 for all non-essential meter changes on 3 July 2008. This is to cover the engineer's time and expenses visiting a property to carry out the work as well as the associated admin costs.

I'm afraid our policy concerning replacing Prepayment with Credit meters is quite strict. This includes carrying out credit checks.

Not sure what position the other suppliers take on this issue, but might be worth ringing round to see if there's one with a less stringent approach.

Sorry I can't be more positive shaza. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

    Malc

i refuse to pay 50 pound as i didnt have the metre put in

But that was your choice when you rented or purchased. £50 (if no deposit requirement) is not excessive. You will soon recoup the cost by eligibility for cheaper tariffs.

So not to go with the £50 is short sighted.
