    Re: Paying the balance.....

Quite right, a deposit is fine. You are bound to the contract between you and the dealer, as you are not having finance, so I can't understand (unless you've left a tiny deposit) why they would want you to pay the balance before registering the car to you. Further, if this was the case, why almost a month before they are due to register it.

Your cash is better earning you a little bit of interest rather than the dealer.

    Re: Paying the balance.....

Hi Martin welcome --- A cash transaction does not have the same protection as a credit transaction does, so if possible use a credit card for the payments, then pay off your card.

Also a 10% deposit is usually acceptable as a down payment, with the balance payable on collection and satisfactory inspection of your goods, I would ask them to accept your terms, as they don't need to hold your full cash amount all that time before delivery of goods. Just remember it's your deal and your money they want, you are perfectly entitled to make your terms known to them.

    Paying the balance.....

    Hi everyone,

I'm new on here and am after some advice.

I have just put down a deposit on a new car and have been asked by the dealership to go in on Saturday to pay the balance in full. I am not getting finiance, am trading in my current car and am paying cash. I am not getting the new car until September 1st.

Am I right in thinking that I don't have to pay the balance until I take delivery of the new vehicle or do the dealership have the right to ask for full payment this far in advance?

Any help and advice greatly appreciated

    Many Thanks

     Martin
