Yes it is possible to have your new partners name on more than one mortgage. Depending on your existing lenders 'criteria' with regard to status and income as to how they will view his/your application. I would suggest that you and your new partner make an appointment to see a mortgage advisor at your lenders offices to discuss the matter. At the end of the day this is ALL going to come down to your ex's agreement and your new partners finances.

    Good luck.

Re: Partners name on my mortgage

    Thank you for the info.

    More detail.

I have agreed with my ex that my new parner and I take over the mortgage. ( i.e. name change on mortgage) subject to mortgage company approval.

    Question.

If my partner's ex does not agree to the name change or the bank won't do it, can my partner have his name on two mortgages. My partner is currently 650GBP to his ex (150 for his share of the mortgage, the rest for share of the bills and child maint) This will reduce to 150GBP and around 300GBP shortly and of which the 300 should stop in Dec when daughter reaches 18.

I am currently giving my ex 550 GBP toward mortgage and other debt. this will also stop once we settle

We are currently renting a place for 800GBP per month, ( Which will stop once we move out and hopefully into the house)

    Does this sound feasible

    Regards

Re: Partners name on my mortgage

Hi Stuang, a mortgage deed is a legal document and therefore is not as simple as some people think to change/have names taken off.

Basically it ALL comes down to finances and status. The mortgage was originally set up and agreed with the lender offering certain specific criteria. Your existing lender will want to know that your partner has a secure job and a sufficient income to replace your ex on the mortgage. They will also want to know about his outgoings eg other mortgages, loans, child maintenance, maintenance etc etc. Basically, they will want to know his nett monthly spending worth before considering replacing your ex with your new partner. If the figures stand up you will need to employ a solicitor for the change of name on the mortgage deed.

As for your partner coming off of his mortgage, the exact same criteria will apply. Remember, if his wife has not got a new partner with a supportive income AND if there are children involved, her solicitor is very unlikely to agree to him coming off of that mortgage deed.

This is certainly possible to sort out but it is not going to be straightforward unless you are very fortunate in having a new partner of some financial worth or his ex has found the same. Very good luck to you for the future.

    Partners name on my mortgage

I have split up with my husband and my partner and I are looking to purchase the matrimonial home from my husband. ( divorce proceeding not started yet) We have agreed to pay my husband some money so that I can have the house

My partner is looking to get his name taken off his mortgage and take a payment from his wife, so that she can have that home

    Questions:

How easy is it to take a name off a mortgage, both my husband off my mortgage and my partners name of his previous mortgage then put my partners name on my mortgage.

    any comments welcome
