Sweet - with savoury on the side! There are far too many sweet pancake toppings! I actually think that whole wheat pancakes taste sweeter than regular. Spread peanut butter over the top when it is still warm, letting it melt, is delicious! (so much better than syrup!) or nutella, or fresh fruit, or dark chocolate chips in the batter! The list goes on and on! YUM!

Made some last night for my boyfriend and housemate. Doubled the recipe...forgot to double the milk.

    Flour omlette? Yum.

Caramel chocolate sauce was lovely though :)

Heh-heh The two extremes of pancake day:

JJ - You are Raymond Blanc and I claim my £5 prize.

Paul - remind me never to accept an invite to yours for dinner...

    :-)

So, how do you make the perfect pancake? Aunt Bessies don't count!

    Eek!

I tried 2 years ago to make a nice pancake or two for my wife after work, glass of wine- get the picture,

Ended up with a disaster and a burnt out fire pan and a used fire blanket!

Aunt bessies for me this year LOL!

    Regards,

    Paul

    I generally operate a cycle in this format;

Sugar and Lemon followed by melted (cadbury's) chocolate and squirty cream followed by Sugar and Lemon follwed by melted (cadbury's) choco.... etc...

I am a bit of a culinary daredevil but some things are best left in the old school format...

Re: Pancakes - savoury or sweet?

jimboban - Sausage and egg - like a French galette? Oooh la la...

Lorraine42 - Liking the old school approach! Keeping it real...

We went for a smoked salmon, leek and crème fraiche galette followed by a raspberry jam pancake. The better half went for Nutella which I think is like Marmite...

The French approve of Nutella so that is enough endorsement for me! :O)
