    Re: Overseas House Contents Insurance

You could try John Wason who specialise in covering ex pats, they will be able to offer you cover, be aware that it is often fairly expensive. The advantage will be the policy will be written in English and you can deal with them in the UK. Their website is http://www.johnwason.co.uk/ (Copy and paste it into your browser).

Alternatively as the previous poster said try a local broker / Insurer as they will probably be very cheap but obviously the policy will not be in English and often insurance in foreign countries has unusual exclusions or you have to buy extra cover to make it similar to a UK policy.

The advice on using your home insurance to cover your "Valuables" abroad is not very good as it will actually cover your personal effects eg things you would normally carry on your person. This would not include things like tvs etc. In addition it will almost certainly have a limit of 60 days outside the UK in any one year

I suggest you try a local broker. Are you talking about the furniture in the property or your own valuable items? If you have a property in your Country of origin, you may find that the contents policy will cover valuable items when you are abroad. Check the policy document if you have one.

Paradise [ip] Overseas House Contents Insurance

    Hi,

I'm living overseas in Brunei and am trying to get some house contents insurance for the rented property I'm in. Are there any UK based insurance providers that provide contents cover when you are staying overseas? If yes who are they?

Thanks for your help in advance,

    Bruce.
