    Hi Lishaun

Just came across your initial post - we're in exactly the same situation now. Our lender told us that they won't sell any new mortgage products to existing Open Market Homebuy customers!!

Have you managed to remortgage elsewhere now? If so, can you give me any tips / recommendations? We feel rather hung out to dry at the moment..

    Cheers

    Dan

I would contact another broker. If this one is not any good at communication then you need to find one that is

Hi Zeb, Thanks for the reply. I am not sure which other mortgage lenders do this type of mortgage as now the government has stopped this scheme it seems other schemes are in place no one wants to help. Have approached the broker who originally set me up on the mortgage and they don't even get back to me with any advise. I just wondered if anyone else out there was on the same scheme as myself and has managed to remortgage with someone else. I will try and phone broker again. Thanks again

Have you tried to speak to other lenders about a remortgage. You do not have to stay with just one lender for the whole of your kortgage and indeen it would be very unlikely that the same lender had the mst suitable products when you came for renewal every 2-3 years.

If you are concerned about who to approach then go and speak to a mortgage broker who will be up to date on which lenders will do what and how and who they will lend to

Open Market Homebuy scheme help needed after 5 years

I am really hoping someone can advise me. Our situation is we purchased our house 5 years ago though the open market homebuy scheme with the 25% extra coming from the mortgage provider (12.5%) and housing association (12.5%). For the first five years nothing payable on this amount and only paid money on the other 75% to the mortgage company as fixed rate repayment mortgage. I was aware after 5 years there would be also interest only payable on the 12.5% of the mortgage share of the 25%. I have now got to that 5 years and was under the impression I could remortgage to consolidate the 75% and the 12.5% into one and have one mortgage. This does not seem to be the case and now I have been put on a variable rate which I am unable to fix as the mortgage company basically said we aren't offering any more products for this scheme. Does this basically mean for the next 20 years I am stuck on a variable rate with the same mortgage company unless I can raise the funds to pay off the other 25%. Please help I feel I was very mislead when taking on this product which was designed to help struggling families to get onto the housing market not trap them forever in one place.
