Alternatively - get an experian/equifax report, all active accounts will be listed on there with account numbers. then spend a happy sunday afternoon writing to them all. Take far less time and ou're not relying on your memory. to be fair most credit card companies stop updating after 6 months inactivity anyway but they will still be listed as alternative sources of credit and may affect a lenders credit decision in future.

yes, just call each individual company you have ever had a card with and they will tell you, unless you cancelled it yourself or had a replacement they are always active. hope this helps

    Old credit cards.

Hi, I have been a bit of a rate tart over the years & have swapped cards as soon as the rates have gone up. The thing is I cut the cards up & threw them in the bin! I have since been told (by the fat bloke in the pub) that I should of sent the cards back to the card company as the old cards are still "active"? Is there any way of finding out what cards I have "active" as old statements have been shredded. Thanks.
