    Re: Off road driving

Hi, I have offroad insurance as part of my policy with lancaster, And this is very important if you are going offroad as you will find that if you venture onto land that is not classed as a public road, then the police can seize your car as an unisured vehicle.

I spen a lot of time offroading and i would not venture offroad without insurance, as you know the police have been taking motorbikes driving on land for no insurance and these then end up being crushed and the owner being fined a lot of money.

So i suggest that you contact a 4x4 insurance specialist and see if this can be purchesed seperatly or on a day by day basis.

If you purchased Land Rover insurance with your vehicle then you will be insured for off road driving. Otherwise you most likely wont. I know that some of the Land Rover Experience centres offer 'Bring Your Own Vehicle' days in which you could take your Sport off road - the Scotland experience centre has one day just about every month - great fun! However with the Range Rover Sport you have to be aware that your tyres aren't as good as the other Land Rover vehicles and will most likely get damaged.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Off road driving

    By off-road, I meant 4x4 type of off-road

I quite fancy driving across fields, through woodland etc. (where permitted), but what if I roll it, or it get's swept away by a torrent (I know someone who this happened too).

On another note, does anyone know of any good tracks I can take my range rover sport, I don't want to go on any of the "organised" tracks as thats just plain unadventurous - but I do want to be insured

    Re: Off road driving

most policies will explicitly exclude cover for racing and rallying.  So if by off road you mean rallying, then dont go there.

If in doubt ring and ask your insurer.

    Re: Off road driving

Gareth --- I think unless your policy specifically states it then you would not be covered, not for serious off road anyway, policies would cover you for the likes of farm tracks used for access and such but not actual off road events, for which you can take specific cover out for.
