Yes there are temporary Insurances available. e.g Dayinsure.com

If you search online for temporary or short term Car Insurance, you will find numerous companies offer this.

Occasional Driving Insurance, Is That Possible?

    Told you it was stupid!

Are there any companies that will insure an over 60 female with a clean full driving license for 38 years that doesn't own a car of their own to allow them to drive others that are fully insured anyway just without me as a named driver? The premium to add me to that policy permanently is just too expensive for the very occasional times I need to use it so just wondering if there's a cheaper way.

We have two 4 wd vehicles here, I'm a named driver on one (Nissan Terrano 5 door) but not the other (Nissan Terrano van) they're both used for OH and son's work, the 5 door if 3 of them are working together which is increasingly frequent now hence the asking. It's sod's law that the vehicle left behind is the one I'm not insured on so I have no emergency transport then if I need to get to the vets or doctors - note my priorities! - (we live right in the sticks, no buses come within miles) Many weeks I don't need a car at all and it stands on the yard unless I need the bank/vets/doc's/dentist/do the shopping etc.

So basically, I just need occasional insurance to allow me to drive the van odd times on local errands. Is there such a policy about do you know?

    Thanks for reading.
