I know BG has a bad rep, but they come up the cheapest and at the moment it is all about money, i don't really trust BG but i feel i have no choice, you will see me here again moaning about BG customer service i am sure.

    MRS BLOGGS

It is good to do these comparisons, but please take into account the ratings of "customer service" with whoever you choose to switch to.

I have now left the UK about 7 months ago but ended up dealing with British Gas for the last house I rented after selling mine.

In my experience both BG and NPower had pretty poor customer service and better energy companies to deal with were Scottish Power and Atlantic Electric & Gas.

It is your choice but just run the comparison again and have a look at the ratings on customer service.

    Good luck

    From their Spreading Warmth page:

You are a new customer, or currently on one of the qualifying tariffs chosen by npower from time to time. Qualifying tariffs include our standard tariffs and some fixed price tariffs, but others may be added.

If you are on a non-qualifying tariff but you otherwise qualify, you can if you wish change to a Spreading Warmth tariff but you would lose any benefits specific to your tariff. You would be advised about this if relevant to you.

You have to study very carefully the prices of the tariff they may put you on.

Where I am, 5475 units of electricity (15 x 365) would cost £538 from British Gas Click 6 whereas nPower would charge £707. That's £169 more expensive. And that is even if they let you stay on an online tariff. If they bumped you off on to the standard tariff it would cost £795 - that's £257 more. And the Spreading Warmth discount is only £125 per fuel.

    And then there's your gas.

It could work out to be a reasonable offer but you will have to keep your wits and your calculator about you. It may be a lot poorer value than it seems.

Npower are being nice to me WHY!

Npower suddenly doubled my monthly direct debit from £55 to £110 for my electricity, they said i use 15 units a day which is true, anyway they directed me to there spreading warmth who were really nice and they said they are going to credit my account in janruary with £125 for gas and £125 for my electricity that was nice ,then they said that i still have to pay £110 a month cos that is my usage,i told them about 20 times in numerouse phone calls that i could not pay that much a month and they said there is nothing we can do even though my account will be credited in jan with £250.00, so after week of protesting they said that in november they will be taking £110 from my account ,so i cancelled my direct debit went on a comparison site and decided to switch to click 6 with british gas,i kindly phoned them up to tell them i have cancelled DD and i am not staying with them i was switching, now all of a sudden they want to keep my payments at £55 as long as i know i will go into great debt with them, they said phone back on monday and they r going to change my DD back to £55, before this call they said under no circumstances could they let me fall into debt now i am confused shall i stay with them and get the £250 pounds or should i just go now, i will pay my final bill to them which will not be in a lump sum.
