Norwich Union - Rapid Bonus Question

I had my first years insurance with Endsleigh starting Dec 2003 until Dec 2004 (my first year of driving)

In Dec 2004 I moved onto the Rapid Bonus Policy from Norwich Union as the prices were better.

Now I am due for a renewal £577 (on 17/09) to keep on their rapid bonus policy. But I want to go on an annual policy now with 5 years protected NCD. They quoted £970.

I have found other insurers will do half that price!!

But will other insurers accept my 5 years NCB from this Rapid Bonus Policy and does anyone know which ones?

I am also prepared to accept that I have 4 years NCD as 5 years is not technically until Dec 2008.

Re: Norwich Union - Rapid Bonus Question

Seek out some quotes and see which is cheaper as it is doubtful that other Insurers will accept any quaint NU scheme which provides for counting a year as year, before a year has passed.

If your 4 years works out with cheaper quotes for comparable insurance, take out the comparable insurance. £900 + for an annual policy when NU have only been charging £577 for their rapid policy seems a bit steep. That is unless the £577 rapid policy is not for a full 12 months' policy, as you do not explain how the renewal requirement is Sept 08, when your policies appear to have all started in Dec each year?

What do the NU Renewal documents say? If they say 5 years No claims then that is what you must put forward to alternative Insurers, as that is what you have documentary evidence for, from NU - 5 years No Claims, whether it got there from rapid or not.

Re: Norwich Union - Rapid Bonus Question

Thank you for your reply on this.

I called up Direct Line and asked them if they would take me on with my 5 years or more NCD even though I had only been driving for 4 and a half years.

As long as I had documentary evidence of my NCD then that is what they will accept. The lady I spoke to at Direct Line was very helpful and she said that that is how all insurers work.

The point is, you won't have documentary evidence to support 5 years No Claims Bonus where operative only on a rapid bonus accellerator!

It sounds like she has cleverly worded it to secure the business.

You might also like to know that you will not receive any more bonus with Direct Line as they stop at 5 years !!

    Good luck
