Hi there,
Let it settle itself for the time being. I reckon the first week of use (if you are a home/low user) will allow it to sort itself out. "Training" is a good one as it will ask you lots of questions to get your apps and habits right, but people tend not to like this for the same reasons!
Up to you, but I would go for "Training" and put up with the flash messages until they settle down - at least you will know what is going on in the background.

Dear SHARK!
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing! I have looked through the page that comes up when I click on K. Under FIREWALL it is set to 'low security' with the only PRACTICAL alternative being 'training'. I remembered with 360 that this automatically went into 'training' mode for a short period of time so I reset K to 'training' where it said, I think, that I can make decisions as they flash up or it can be done automatically. I thought they meant a 'recommended' decision but they don't. As I don't understand the questions I put it back to 'low security'. Should I leave it there?
Thanks

Thanks SHARK! that makes sense now. The way K and 360 obviously reacted means they are cookies/hoaxes.

Hi there people ...
Sorry, been a bit rushed of late but have a few moments to spare.
K needs to update as regularly as all of them so go to HELP and UPDATES and it should go off and get the latest definitions to sort out your problem.
If it says you have Trojans, then this is a problem and should not be ignored, HOWEVER there are hoaxes as well as real ones and you need to go to a library to check them out. If you send me a PM I will also check the database for you as each one has to be handled a different way. Sometimes, COOKIES will also be regarded as Trojans (depending on the cookie and who sent it).
Just as an FYI to other readers. This is the time of the plague of eCards from those who cannot be bothered to send real ones. Some of these are very nasty and have a load of AdWare built into them or sound with underlying nasties as well. My advice is NEVER open these, even if you do know the sender - these could ruin your Christmas very easily.

No cmk no problem with updates or K. I imagine these Trojans were there under 360. K says they couldn't be identified BUT the 'Protected' is on. I just wondered if they don't matter? My ignorance again are these just very occasionally annoying but not a virus? Oh yes they did mention, I think, that they were working on a 'cure', I suppose a bit like a flu virus? All is fine, I just wondered.
Thanks

Hi -- drumster --- Glad you managed to get the Norton removal tool used properly, but as I have never used Kapersky then I am in the dark the same as you about how to download updates, if that's what it needs.??
I think you need Shark's help on the correct running and configuration of that...... Sorry, as mentioned I got AVG and just stuck with what worked for me.

Dear conmankiller & SHARK!
Thanks to you I successfully uninstalled 360 and made an informed choice of replacement software in Kapersky IS 7.0 which I successfully installed. At the moment K is opening things quicker eg when I double click for internet it shows msn almost immediately.
After K had done an extensive scan around eight Trojans appeared and K told me it could not delete them because they weren’t recognised. I am ‘Protected’ so don’t the Trojans matter?

Drummy,
i always go for Internet Security because antiviruses do half [or part] the job. tonight i will be test-driving Kapersky Internet Security, but so far NOD32 is leading the pack...

Yes I meant I'm going for 'internet security' whereas you go for anti virus so you need at least firewall from somewhere else?

Thanks I'll certainly look but I think you're an advanced user by the way you are looking at anti virus as opposed to one size fits all 'internet security'.
i wouldn't say "advanced user" but i would certainly say i'm very particular on CPU usage because some antiviruses slow you down and there is a difference between an Antivirus and Internet Security . AVs dont do as much as the IS...
