Are there any other alternatives to this without having to re-connect to BT?

Yes, cable, and you are already using it. There are no "practicable" alternatives other than having a landline, because regardless of whether you use the telephone service the broadband is carried on the telephone wires.

Since you believe your current service appears "expensive", you need to research the costs of installing (or reconnecting) a landline. Perhaps you could focus on driving down your Virgin Media costs. If you don't want a phone line ask for the phone service to be discontinued. That should reduce costs to around £20. Then you could threaten to move away and see how much (or little) Virgin Media retentions value your continued custom. The will try offerring you TV but you don't want that, do you? What about pitching for "Antime Calls"?

Try something on and let the forum know what is available for asking.

No BT landline Options for Broadband/phone

I am currently with virgin media and have 10 mb, unlimited broadband, and phone line rental with free weekend calls, a bundle that costs £26.49 per month. I would like to change from this package on the basis it appears expensive, but nearly all other options listed on the moneymarket offers page require a BT land line. Are there any other alternatives to this without having to re-connect to BT?

    many thanks

    eric
