    new line no MAC code

hey guys i will put this as swift as i can because i have phoned bt and got nowhere with it so im sick of explaining it :(

    ok

i have 2 houses...one has bt line and aol BB..the other has BT lin BB and vision.

we have sold one and kept the other

we canceld the line and the AOL bb and now in the process of transfering the BB and stuff from the sold place

when i placed the transfer the woman said i dont need to give her the mac code we got from AOL because we are moveing the line and the BB together and not just takeing over an existing line and said that the transfer will be finished on the 2nd so the line will be live and the BB will go live on the 3rd

so one thing that comes into my mind is that on the AOL email that had the mac code they said that if the BB is not taken over they will continue to charge us but when and IF bt come into affect will AOL stop or will they continue because i didnt hand over the code?

can someone clarify this for me or am i being short posted by BT

    thank you for reading

Re: new line no MAC code

Don't really follow what broadband is going where but if you cancelled AOL you shouldn't get a MAC. That's only for migrating from one ISP to another on the same line.

If it's the case you've kept the house with AOL and want to transfer the BT BB account from the house you sold and cancel AOL then as I said you shouldn't get a MAC, can't transfer broadband from one line to another with it. AOL should have initiated a cease on the line not a migration.

Perhaps cancelling BT BB and migrating from AOL to a new BT BB account is what the MAC from AOL could have been used for.

i think i get what you mean

because we are not going from one isp to another on the same line we dont need to use the mac code

    is that right?

Re: new line no MAC code

That's correct, AOL shouldn't have issued a MAC in the first place. It's a cease order that should be used. However you might find now that BT won't be able to transfer the BB from your other line to the one with AOL because there will be a marker on the line until such times as AOL is cancelled.

Re: new line no MAC code

i think thats where the confusion comes in a little for me at lease

the line that has AOL has been stopped aswell as AOL BB

and were moveing the line and the BB at the same time

    does this make any differance?

Re: new line no MAC code

    Hi

To put your broadband onto the other line the AOL will need to be cancelled as you cant migrate a house move. The MAC is useless to you as its used to put a new broadband on top of an old broadband on the same phone line.

You need to be sure that the broadband you dont want is cancelled - and possibly call the company that is moving the broadband just to get a conformation the order to move has not failed.

Basicly they will perform a move of broadband and phone line sepreatly but to you it will look as if its moving in a package.

Re: new line no MAC code

ok i just got this from AOL

    Dear AOL Member,

Following your request to migrate your broadband service to another ISP, we can confirm that this process has now been completed.

We'll therefore be closing your AOL Broadband account very shortly. If you are still within your 18 month minimum contractual period, any outstanding amounts due under your AOL Broadband Agreement will be debited from your payment method on or shortly after your next billing date, unless otherwise agreed. We want to thank you for being an AOL Broadband member.

i understand how its working just being on the phone to BT to BT indain tech support and home movers explaining the story over and over has really really fried my brain and left me very confusied

im very tech savvy myself just needed a little clearance on this

but thanks for your help :)

on a smaller not BT tech support sucks
