Hi Troll -- Just to clarify, it is the Dealer that you have the contract with, therefore it is the dealer who is liable to you, under the sale of goods act. They in turn would seek re-dress from Ford motors, but that is their problem not yours, it is the dealer who has to rectify your faulty car, or offer a replacement if they are unable to fix. As they have already made attempts and still not fixed the car, you are still within the reasonable permitted time period allowed by law, to insist on a replacement car by rejecting the faulty vehicle.

Hi conmankiller----- Apologies for all the postings on the same subject but I hit a wrong button and it wouldn't let me delete them............. Thanks for the interest in my plight. Apparently, according to the Trading Standards office I only have 30 days in which to reject the vehicle and did, in fact threaten to do so, which prompted more activity from the dealer. Trading Standards warned me that because I had contacted them, and therefore making a complaint, I would have been outside this 30 day period, That would mean any action I was to take would be at my expense and expensive. Their advice was to try and compromise with the dealer. If I make any legal attempts then the dealership will refuse to do work on my car until it is resolved. You are pretty much on your own as far as Trading Standards are concerned. I paid £14440 for this car just a short while ago. I would advise anyone who buys a new car like this to take delivery of it and go for a very, very long run in it. If there is absolutely anything wrong with it REJECT THE CAR and stick to your guns. It's your money not there's. Do not rely on the dealership to be "your pal". You are a means to a wage to them and that's all. After all the recent rain in Sheffield where I live can you imagine the water damage to my car and it has not even been in any of the flooding. The car stinks. Even my 3 year old grand-daughter doesn't like going in it because of the smell. I'd like to think someone from Ford would read this but as I said they have my money now and probably spent it propping up another failing motor manufacturer.

Hi Troll --- Why not reject the new car under the sale of goods act, as, "being of unsatisfactory quality" ? You are entitled to either a refund in full, a repair (whch hasn't worked), or a replacement vehicle. You have a reasonable time allowed in doing this, and in anycase it is the dealer who is legaly obliged to prove the fault was not present when it was sold, for the first 6 months. You are entitled by law even after they have unsuccessfully tried to repair the car, to ask for a replacement. If you get the runaround, see a Solicitor. Case of relevant interest below. http://www.honestjohn. co.uk/faq/faq.htm?id=43

Hi Troll, I've not got one of these but I have driven an EK07 plate Focus Sport. I hired this car out for the week and on my way back from Yorkshire on the M1 or M4 or M whatever it is, I heard a noise which sounded like something rubbing or knocking - pretty similar to your experience. When I took the car back, I told them and they got it looked into and in the end they had it swapped. This was confirmed as the front suspension too. This car had only done 400 miles on the clock, so it seems like a design fault. I loved the Focus back in it's day but after that experience, I'd not buy one! PS. 'wise enough to buy a Honda Civic' - are you off your rocker lol?

Has anyone else had problems with this particular model. I bought one newly registered on 02/03/2007. I have done just 3000 miles in it so far. It has been back to, what has turned out to be, a pathetic dealer in my home city of Sheffield for a repair on the front suspension which was knocking on uneven surfaces. They did not cure it but cracked the windscreen in the fumbled attempt to do so, having spoken to Ford customer relations centre this can happen, this screen was replaced by Autowindscreens who I have noticed have already got a mention from postings on this site. Sure enough a relative noticed that the screen had chip marks on the driver's side of the car. When this car went back in again for water ingress into the rear hatch I mentioned this to the same hapless dealership who said they would have a look at it. The water ingress "repair" was not successful and water now gets into the rear footwell and has wet the seating as well. When I went to pick up the car and asked about the chipped screen a member of staff handling the paperwork said it had been discovered that there was an impact point from a stone. I asked him to show me. When we got ot the car he couldn't find it anymore than I could and said he would go and get the person who had found it. When this person came out, try as he could, he too could now not find the impact point. Funnily he swore it was there earlier. The car is now due back in for the water leak to be repaired but has been delayed by the dealership because, at Ford's recommendation, I have asked for a vehicle on something called "prior agreement" which upgrades the courtesy car for repairs done under warranty. If I could get by with a Ford KA I would have bought one. Basically as things stand the dealership are out of there depth, impotent and wouldn't know the difference between a ball joint and a ballcock, and Ford, well they've got my money now so the aren't too fussed and say it's a dealership problem. Sounds like water getting into your car is not covered by the warranty, although no one has said this yet. Perhaps the guy who "found" the stone chip will tell me.Trading standards? Don't waste your time. There is no wonder that this car manufacturer is going down the pan. Anyone out there been wise enough to buy a Volkswagen Golf or a Honda Civic. Come on have a gloat I can't hate this car more than I already do !!!
