    Re: new car purchase

    Hi John,

The world of car buying can bring many different options of purchase, depending on your personal circumstances. The key question you must ask yourself is, What will you likely do at the end of the 3year deal? sell or keep it?

On the information you have provided above, i would almost certainly look at PCP, Why? well your anticipated mileage is well above average and when you come to sell the car the dealer or buyer will certainly remind you that it has 75k miles on the clock for a 3year car, thus effectiving its potential value. On the flip side, if you have strong plans to keep the car for 5 years or more, then a cash purchase will be a wise buy, also note that the car will always drop in value in most makes.

You may find it will cost you a little more per month for a PCP, but you will have the comfort to know that you can hand the car back, buy it or use it as a deposit against another car in three years time.

You can find some great deals on our website via the car leasing channel on moneysupermarket.com

    Good Luck

    new car purchase

I am currently wanting to buy a new or nearly new car Skoda Octavia can you please advise whether it is best to buy the car out-right or take PCP contract. Looking to spend around £14500 if i took out a PCP it would be over 36 months based on a yearly mileage of 25000. Is it best to use our savings or take a monthly budgeted fiqure your help please.
