    New Car Order

I ordered a brand new VW Golf in August on the scrappage scheme and I was told delivery would be end of September. However September came I was told it would be end of October and as such I had to tax my old car, not a big deal and I would have had to do it anyway if I hadn't been buying the new car. I've just recieved a telephone call to advise that the car will not be in until end of November!

I'm now seriously thinking about cancelling the order because it's getting close to the 4 months you have to complete an order on the scrappage scheme from when the car is first ordered. I've paid £395 deposit so could I ask for that back given the dates have slipped?

    Anyone have any advice?

    Re: New Car Order

If you have in writing that the estimated delivery date was the end of September then you should be ok getting your deposit back. As this is usually an estimated delivery date, the dealer would have 28 days from the estimate in which to supply the car before you can start the 'cancellation ball' rolling in respect of breach of contract.

The 4 months scrappage scheme is something that the dealership would need to worry about (they will have a way round this) if you still want to proceed with this order.
