    Hi Jarvis

    Good news.

    i) You can get O2 Broadband in your area.

ii) Speeds start at 8mb but they have a 16 Mb and 20Mb products

iii) As an existing O2 customer the 8Mb/unlimited deal is £7.50 a mth

iv) You also get a free wireless router.

I would suggest you go for this deal or the 16Mb deal.

    Cheers

    Hi Jason

It looks like the cable option is out of the window literally! Too much hassle and not enough people knowing what they were doing. The Tiscali option is the one i've been looking at but until I have my phone line installed in two weeks i can't start to sort anything out, don't even know the the download speed the line can handle.

I also have a digital TV problem with only receiving 6 of the 40+ channels so unless I can get this sorted I may end up with Sky because I far as I can see that will be my only option.

Interesting how you mentioned O2 and there new range, I haven't heard anything about this and I am an exsisting O2 customer and have been for many years. Are the new products on the website and are they availible now? and what are they?

    Cheers Jarvis

    Hi Jarvis

Yes you can get Tiscali and yes with one of their bundle deals you get free line rental - the 8Mb / anytime deal is worth considering.

If you don't go with Tiscali I would highly reccommend O2's new range of products especially if you're an O2 contract customer.

    Cheers

Been onto the link before and it says I'm in a cable and i've been told the hub is right outside my flat but when I called the woman in the call centre said if it doesn't already have cable then they weren't doing any more install's and i'd have to get a phone line. The exsisting cable run's 8ft away passed my window, cable would be my prefered choice but doesn't seem like Virgin are too bothered.

Hi -- According to the Virgin media site below, cable services including broadband are available to your postcode, check the link input your postcode, then make further enquiries.

New apartment, need help with best options for phone line and internet?

I've recently moved into a new apartment block in Sheffield (S8 9FY) and i'm in desperate need of the internet. I believe I'm in a cable area which is my prefered choice but when I rang they say I wasn't, I told them the cable runs 8ft away passed my window, they then changed there mind and said I could only get cable down a phone line (defeating the object of getting cable).

Is there anyway of getting someone to assess the situation on an indivdual basis or do I have to stump up the £125 to BT? Also if I go with BT then take up a service provider like Tiscali who will pay the line rental, will BT allow me to do this straight away or is there a period of time I have to wait for payment of my line rental to be taken over?

BT and Virgin are too confusing, can anyone help?
