Re: NEVER USE TISCALI - so let's do something positive about it
Like others I have a long history of unresolved grievance with Tiscali; too tedious to relate here. However, it is their breathtaking incompetence (I do not believe it is willful or a conspiracy) in the way they handle customer dissatisfaction that is most intollerable. I do not believe Tiscali will change unless there is mass protest that gets a lot of publicity. NTL / Virgin customers got themselves organised to do just this.Moderator - Link to forum removed, in line with MS terms of service. I am not sure if it still exists, but there was a similar user site called I Hate Orange. I understand that initially they ignored the site and hoped it would go away. Then it dawned on them that this was actually a golden opportunity to actually learn how to improve (are you watching Tiscali???). Of course if the site also gave advice on good alternatives and how to move to them, this might get some traction with Tiscali. I don't have the technical nous to set up such a site, but would be delighted if we could collectively provide such an opportunity to 'help Tiscali improve'. Anyone technical out there willing and able to initiate this?

I cancelled with Tiscali and after the 30 day notice period, cancelled my direct debit. They are threatening to sue and are still claiming that I'm a customer unless I can prove I'm not. I'm not sure how I can "prove" the day I cancelled as I forgot to get a suitable witness in to my home the day Tiscali stopped working and I plugged my Sky router in and started using that instead. They still phone me with offers of upgrade packages. They actually owe me about a quid.

Strider should send in the bailiffs to reclaim the £500 that Tiscali owes This is supposed to be a simple matter to do nowadays and the bailiffs charge will be added to Tiscalis bill Let us know how you got on

I took up tiscali broadband, it never worked so i cancelled. this took a month of phone calls, being put on hold , caller queues for hrs.... Managed to cancel as it never worked. they put calls and free wkend on my acct too which was unrequested. when i called them about this, to say i didnt want or request it, a guy with scotch accent said "tough" , and just ranted or sang down the phone when i tried to explain. I have cancelled the direct debit long ago, wont use the home phone for outgoing now, and am now receiving debt collector threats for ten quid! Trying to get b.t to get the service for calls back on them, AS IM NOT SPENDING TWO DAMN HRS ON HOLD AGAIN Avoid tiscali at all costs, a pathetic company with disgusting customer service. If i could trace the scottish guy....i would knock him out!

Hi Star29, Jason and All, I've been with Tiscali for over 2 years. I phoned their customer service to cancel the broadband service at the beginning of September. I was given a case number and was asked to keep my direct debit active so they can take the last payment in October. I did as they asked me and after the last payment was taken I cancelled my DD. They even provided me with a MAC code. A few weeks following this I received a letter from tiscali demanding £ 17.99. I phoned them up and I was told that my account wasn't cancelled at all (!). Apparently my case number never appeared on their system (!!!). I phoned and phoned again, every time I was told that everything was sorted, finally I received a letter confirming my cancellation, however they still keep sending me a letter saying that I owe them that £17.99, for a service they never provided. I decided to write a complaint letter to them only to find that THE COMPLAINT ADDRESS ON THEIR WEBSITE IS NOT CORRECT. I had to find this out in the post office when I tried to send my complaints via recorded delivery. Tiscali Customer Services PO Box 14505 Birmingham B46 1BF The CORRECT POSTCODE is: B46 9BF I wonder if it is a spelling mistake or a deliberate spelling mistake? It would be quite easy to say, 'Well, we've never received your complaints, sir.' Altough I did send my complaint to the right address, they just completely ignored it. Why is it on their website at all? So they can just say we've got a complaint address (where you can write to but we'll never read it anyway)? Because of my experiences of tiscali customer services, I would never recommend getting your broadband from them at all. I've never experienced such incompetence from a broadband provider before. There are lots of other providers to choose from, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY ON TISCALI, it's not worth the hassle.

I've been with Tiscali for many years now and have to agree that their customer service is not very good at all. The problem seems to be when your speaking to customer service is that they don't know what you are talking about. However, if you ring their sales team they fully understand what you are talking about, however can't help you with technical queries! I rang the sales number in desperation last time I had a problem with the internet and explained that customer service couldn't understand me, she replied with "sounds about right, duck!" I eventually got the problem sorted, however became the go-between between tiscali and BT, of which neither of them would admit that a fault existed on the telephone line. Also, you do have to keep your eye open with them taking money, as my payments started off on the 10th of the month and gradually got sooner and sooner each month without them telling me! (down to about the 3rd of the month now).

I can't understand what Tiscali are thinking of. About a year ago my dad wanted broadband but is only an occasional Internet user so did not want a high cost package. After searching for deals I decided Tiscali was his best option. He rang the sales number on their web site and soon had his order placed. This was followed by a number of issues but eventually all was sorted and he has had no problems since. I am now moving home and will be renting for 6 months. At present I am on Virgin cable, not the cheapest option, but fast and reliable. My new home does not have cable so I thought I might save some money and give Tiscali a try. The problem I have is there is no longer a phone number for sales, is this because they were wasting profits by trying to assist customers who where not having any joy with their technical support :-) I find it amazing that there is no way for me to speak to someone in pre-sales. I want to know if Tiscali can arrange phone and broadband services from the date I move in, if not I will be forced to take on a BT contract and pay a penalty to switch. I also want to know what happens if I move after 6 months. Without answers to these questions I am not going to place an order. I did tthink about e-mailing their customer services, but that requires date of birth and other details that should not be necessary at this stage. How can any utlity/service company not provide a sales telephone number, especially a communications company. The good news is I may have been persuaded to sign up if they had, and based on the comments above that would have probably been a huge mistake.

When we decided to change ISP becuz their service was to bad. there was loads of faults in their service, my internet took 20 mins to load wen i was with them, now i ave changed to AOL it only take 2 mins to load 6 tabs on one browserto load. And the customers service is very bad, i ave lost connection and still need to pay for over 3 months!!! And wen we requested a MAC code it took us 1 month to get it!
