Re: Need help transfering my debt

Are Barclaycard happy for the balance on a closed account to be transferred to them ? If they are, then why not ask Halifax what the expiry date was for the last card you had with them and provide this to Barclaycard.

Is transferring the debt in this way the only option ? Have you looked at a small personal or consolidation loan to pay off the Halifax account ? The important thing is to work out what the cheapest available way to pay off the debt is. I am not sure putting it onto another credit card would be the best option.

    Need help transfering my debt

Im trying to pay off a rather large debt on a halifax cc and have finally got a new barlaycard credit card so i can do a balance transfer and start reducing this debt, only problem is my halifax account is closed and barclaycard are insisting on have the expiry date on my halifax card. I haven't had a card with halifax for over a year now. When the account was closed i was never told that i wouldnt be able to reopen the account and certainly never told i wouldnt be able to do transfer the balance one day, otherwise i would never have closed it. I remmber saying if there is nothing you can do for me you might aswell close my account but this was never discussed. Does this matter?

I have contact halifax countless times previous to this, asking for help to reduce my debt and only ever been told that there was nothing they could do. Sometimes they would say ring back next week, we might be able to do something then but its always the same answer in the end.

Baclaycard are assuring me it is an FSA policy to have the xpiry date but Halifax say its not?!

Do i have any options here, all i want is to be debt free?

    Any advise welcome

    Thanks

    Matt
