    Re: Need help and fast!

They are completely un-trustworthy, I had problems with them 3 years back. They would tell me how much I owed I would say okay I'll have to arrange to borrow that get back to you in a couple of days. Then when I phoned back they would deny that and increase what I owed (even if it was the same day).

My advice would be to only deal with them in writing. Sorry I know this doesn't help your immediate problem, but may help in future.

    Hey

If you are on an arrangement to pay a fixed amount each monththen this will be recorded on your credit file as such and so will possibly hinder future credit applications, especially if the account is still active (ie not closed). When you apply for any form of credit you may be asked why you were on the arrangement. As a mortgage is a form of secured lending then hopefully it wont be a problem for you.

Receiving a default notice would be much worse so avoid that if at all possible.

I hope it all works out for you.

I agree with axisme - if it's a short-term situation it shouldn't have a major impact on your credit rating, although it is important to protect that where you can. So try to buy some time and settle as soon as you get into your new job.

In short, no. You won't be screwed for life by missing a few payments.

You may have trouble getting another line of credit in the next 9 months, that's about it. This is assuming you bring your account up to date as soon as possible.

    Need help and fast!

    Hi,

I was made redundant several months ago and have had to borrow money from family the past month to pay some bills as I am due to start a new job next week which will get me back on track finacially.

I have a MBNA crdit card which is £180 in over my limit. I am apparently one payment behind and have been told I need to pay £104 today or tomorrow at the latest to stop my account going two payments behind. I have spoken with MBNA and they are no help whatsoever. They told me my credit is screwed unless I paid today, I simply do not have the money nor can I borrow any. i may be able to have it my next week though. Is my credit rating really bad after two missed payments, even if I pay but a few days late?

The reason for me not having the money is I was in an arrangement with MBNA to pay £60 a month until Jan but they have said this is irrelevant now as i will get bad credit with or without that £60, only paying £104 will prevent the bad credit rating.

Does anyone know if this is correct?? I am a good customer and have only fallen behind once due to losing my job and have never missed a payment before.

I'm really stressed about this as I am only 24 and was thinking of getting a house in a year or so but am worried about my credit rating now.
