Do your employer not check all relevant drivers driving licences on a regular basis eg every 6 months and keep a copy ? If not they are leaving themselves open to all types of problems including Non Serious / Serious breaches of HSE, insurance problems, claims against them from employees.

In addition to the above you should be informing your Insurers at their required intervals with any convictions for the drivers

Multiple Car (Corporate Insurance )- Is this normal or am I being ripped off?

    Hello,

I look after our fleet of vehicles insurance- we have 73 in total covered by our policy for our sales people, engineers etc. Some are rental vehicles which we also put under our insurance as people come and go.

We're coming up to our renewal and have been advised ahead of time by our current supplier that rates are likley to go up by around 15% which has been queried by our Financial Director.

The strange thing is that I have now been asked by our insurance provider to supply them with all of our employees driving licences (both parts).

Now...I have a friend who works for a much bigger firm and she says that they may be trying to look for reasons to increase our premium by doing this.

Would I be correct in thinking that they want the licences purely for their records?

Or are they looking for any additional points our drivers may have got over the year to increase premiums?

If they are - and this is the key question I suppose. If my drivers supply copies of their licences with counter parts which do not show any additional points etc - do insurance firms run checks to confirm or cross check the info?

And should I ask all of our drivers to get a NEW copy of their counter part from the DVLA so that we make sure they haven't racket up points and simply not shown them on the counter part? I suppose i won't need to if insurance companies cross check the info anyway - but that's why i think it's strange...

Lots of questions - hoping someone can shed some light.

    Many thanks,

    Lucy
