I have recently split with my partner and we own a house together. We are selling the house and spliting the equity 50/50. I am unsure though how this works when buying a new property.

 I want to purchase my own property and so does my ex, straight from selling the current house but how is the money split?

 Can the solicitor direct each share of the money straight to each of our new sellers as deposit or do we have to complete on the current house first before I can get my own property?
