Talk to your solicitor/conveyancer. It should be possible to arrange the ownership deeds as you wish - either 75:25 or 50:50 - but this does not have to corespond to the mortgage payments. For a joint mortgage, irrespective of whatever the deeds say and whatever arrangement you have had, if the payments fall behind the lender can chase either of you for 100% of the payments.

Hi...when you are in discussions with your solicitor tell them you wish to have the deeds registered as "tenants in common".

This will allow you to decide on the share that each of you have in the property.

    Mortgages and house deeds

    Hi

My wife and I are applying for a joint mortgage. However, because she earns considerably less than I do, we have agreed that she pays less of the mortgage so she has money left for other things. Is it possible to have the deeds as 75% - 25% ownership to reflect this payment divide? Does it even matter in the eyes of the law as we are both entitled to half of everything anyway? Thanks.
