    Mortgage protection

    Hi

We have had mortgage protection with the same company in St Andrews Scotland for the last 10years ( re-newable every 5 years) the last time this need re-newing the company wrote to us direct and informed us. I was checking our DD's the other day and noticed that the payment to this company ceased in August of this year. I rang them and was told that they no longer deal with RBS or the Halifax anymore( none of which we have a mortgage with), When I asked as to why we were not notified that the protection was coming to an end we were told that they didn't need to. The long and the short of this is we have applied for protection else where and are waiting to be accepted, we then find out today that there is a possibility that my husband my get made redundant. After signing the declaration that we were not aware of any pending redundancy ( we weren't until today) so don't think we will get it. Where do we stand with the other company for not informing us that it had ceased as we have no cover now if it does happen.

Hope you understand the above and any help would be appreciated

    The company was called mortgagecare

    Mancy

    Re: Mortgage protection

From what I hear, these policies are a waste of time. My stepfather had one of these twenty years ago, and when he got made redundant the Social Security deducted the amount the policy contributed from his income support payments.

Okay this was twenty years ago, but I can't see the DSS becoming more generous in that time.
