    Re: MORTGAGE FEE RECLAMING !!!

    [Date]

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Ref: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Your mortgage account number)

I took out a mortgage with you on (date) and the exit fee was deemed to be (fee stated on your original contract). When I change my mortgage, I was charged a fee of (fee you paid).

***[if the above paragraph is not the same as your circumstances, use the paragraph below in it's place]***

When I took out my mortgage with yourselves, it was not stated that I would have to pay an exit fee if I switched my mortgage provider once the initial offer had ended. However, I was charged (state fee you paid) ]

Following guidance from the Financial Services Authority, I am writing to request that you reduce my fee so that it matches the fee that was originally stated when I began my mortgage.

Should you not be willing to accept my request, I will be taking the matter up with the Financial Ombudsman Service.

    Yours sincerely,

    Re: MORTGAGE FEE RECLAMING !!!

Thanks for your help. The only problem is I only have the Account Numbers. The paperwork has been lost or shredded. Can I adapt the letter requesting they send original paperwork and inform me of what charges were paid?

    Thanks.

No, only send ther letter for it's intended purpose of reclaiming the exit fees. Once you have got a copy of the paperwork you've lost or shredded, by either writing sperately or phone them for duplicate copies.
