As above says, dont panic. You will drop onto SVR, which (should) be less than what you are paying now. Hopefully you will be back in work well before you need to find another fixed deal.

Don't worry, it seems you have had the same letter as lots of us who are in the same boat as you. ME are not going to just dump you. You will most likely go onto a variable rate when your fixed rate ends, but read your original mortgage offer to be sure or ring their Customer Services helpline. ME are just doing everything they can to reduce the number of mortgages they have. If you read the letter again, you will probably find they are not actually telling you that you have to remortgage, but that you 'may' remortgage with another bank. They have changed their penalty charge policy as an incentive for mortagees to leave ME and go elsewhere. So don't panic, and good luck with finding a new job!

    Mortgage Express - REMORTGAGE query

I have just received a letter from ME stating they would not give me a better deal when my fixed product ends shortly. Having been made redundant recently, they have told me to remortgage with another bank without any penalty charges if i move between Feb-June '09. How do i go about doing this as i am currently unemployed, due to the credit crisis and i have about 90% LTV which many banks would not even consider.
