I would be cancelling the SKY subscription too. £500 saved and there is enough drivel on the digibox to keep Alex amused all day, when incidentally, he could be looking for a new job. Easy to say but if you're not fussy, any job, no matter how unpleasant or "boring" or embarrassing would keep the financial cogs turning. Take it on board Alex, it could open a whole surprising new world for you. Best of luck. regards, Ted

apart from dumping SKY all together assuming they can , why not change to BT option 3 (all calls) its about £16/month and all landlines call upto 1 hr are free.

If they can't dump SKY, why not change to minimum package £20/month ?

how long has Alex worked? have you actually tried signing on and claiming contribution based jsa? it doesn't matter if Natalie is working - if you qualify you are entitled whatever she earns! you only get it for 6 months - it's dependant on how much ni you've paid in the previous 2 tax years. have you tried claiming working tax credits - it's payable to couples without children as long as the income earner is working at least 30 hrs/wk - it's means tested so you may not necessarily be entitled but it's worth a try. how about housing benefit on the grounds of low income? most people think that only benefit recipients can get it but thats definitely not the case - try it - what have you got to lose
