Im sorry to hear you have had such an issue, it sounds like they have put through a "cease" automatically, This would normally happen if payment is not recived at some stage they will order a cease, when you phoned they would have placed a request to stop this.
If the cease order already went to BT Wholesale then they can't stop this.
The delay you are experiencing is due to the line being cancelled for calls and broadband. To get you back online they need to wait until the line is clear then replace your order. Sadly they can't get accurate timescales of how long this can take and this is why you keep getting different answers.
The answer above is the most likely cause of your issue, the only thing you can do is to be patient as they will automatically replace your order but you will still be under contract.
It will take time but your phone and broadband will come back, for now it is best to maintain regular contact with them and possibly seek some credit for the down time.
