"... i can only find the monthly statements of payments I have made and the original policy quote paper work which I was given when I signed up for this policy and ther is only one line on this paper work about the policy having no cash value"

You have answered your own question here. Your documentation states quite clearly that the policy has no cash value.

It would appear that you signed up for life insurance - considering you are a parent that makes sound fiscal sense. Life insurance has a cost with regard to risk. That is what you are paying for. If the policy included a savings element, the monthly premium would be considerably higher. You have not mentioned what your monthly premiums are, but I doubt they are much. Life insurance is pretty cheap in the scheme of things.

You can write to the insurance Company concerned, but I suggest that they will tell you the same thing. Consider legal advice/action at your peril, if your case fails - and from what I have read here, it certainly will - you might end up with the legal costs, which could be considerable.

My feeling is that your case isn't strong but it's not up to me to decide. You can write to the insurance company, giving the policy number, explaining your reasons for believing that the policy was missold and asking for a refund of premiums. Your next step will depend on what any reply states, but the next options could include legal action (MoneyClaimOnline, perhaps) or taking legal advice.

    Mis sold life assurance

I want to know if there is anything I can do about the family cover I have been paying for the last 15 years , I believed it was the same type of policies I had previously where at the end of the term I recieved a cash lump sum if I out lived the policy , I have just found out the policy I have pays out nothing , I would never agreed to take out this policy if that had been made clear to me , which it wasn't. I know I should have read the paper work better , but I do not fully understand all the legal jargon ,I'm not stupid but I do not have the brain for bussiness and when I was sold the policy I was a young single parent . I made it quite clear that I wanted the same type of policy that I had before and was told that the ten year policy was no longer availabe but they did a 15 year policy instead . It was never made clear to me by the gentleman that opened the policy for the insurance company so I feel totally mislead and I have just found out I will get nothing back just as the policy ends so I'am gutted .I cannot find the full policy paperwork , i can only find the monthly statements of payments I have made and the original policy quote paper work which I was given when I signed up for this policy and ther is only one line on this paper work about the policy having no cash value , which excuse me if I sound dumb but I believed this related to circumstances such as changing policy at later date such as if I decided I no longer wanted policy etc.

If any one has any insight or knowledge please let me know asap, thanks.
