redapple:thanks. yep i called Quinns and they said that he was definately covered. Direct Line wont have my custom.in the future.

It seems a bit silly to say Direct Line wont have your custom in the future, as an insurance company they will offer prices on the type of risk you are, if at the moment they are not interested in covering you doesn't mean they wont be the best price and cover your every need in a years time.

Each insurer has their own underwriting criteria. Check with Quinns to ensure that this is ok. If they have quoted you with the boy on the policy then it sounds like this is ok.

Check with the insurer to be certain.

I have been looking for a quote for an MG ZR 1400 with me as the policy holder and my son who is 17 and holds a provisional licence only. Quinns have given me a quote but when i spoke to Direct Line they said that my son could not be on the insurance as he had to be 19 and hold a full licence for a year. I am now worried that my insurance would be invalid if i went with Quinns or is it just an insurance companies decision??
