Incase anyone else has a similar problem....we have taken insurance with Insureandgo. Its best policy allows over 60 days abroad at any one time,no excesses to pay and will cover her for winter sports and also for the white water rafting she intends to do.....up to level 4 .Emergency dental treatment and repatriation etc are also in ...now we just have to encourage her to be brave and live in France on her own !!

We have a yearly worldwide policy with Portman so I`ll give them a call tomorrow and see if they can offer her anything suitable. She`s covered by it if she travels with us but not as an individual. ` Daughtersickness ` isn`t somethig I usually suffer from....her 3 brothers are far ,far  easier !

Hmmm, are you sure you won't be suffering from 'daughtersickness' more than she suffers from homesickness!!

Based on the information supplied it does seem that a Worldwide Annual Multi Trip policy with a longer trip duration limit than standard (just in case she finds herself not coming home as often as she imagines) would be your best bet.

Many policy will limit to 31 or 45 days, if she feels this is sufficient then great if not then you can get some that will go up to more than that. Be careful though some policies do have a maximum duration that you can spend outside the UK during the 12 months that she is insured i.e. 183 days/6 months (unfortunately ours does).

Sorry I cannot recommend any one specific but you may want to start by looking here on MSM to see if they are any policies that meet her requirements.

I take it that from what you have said, she would be better off taking out a worldwide policy as she would if she were taking holidays ?

We have to make a decision soon as she`s off to pay her boyfriend a last visit before she leaves for La Belle France.......Kids don`t get any easier even when they get older ! M

Will your daughter be returning back to the UK within the 7 months that she is working in France? If she is returning regularly then most annual multi trip policies should be suitable. If she is returning only once or twice then you will need to ensure that the maximum trip duration limit is sufficient on the multi trip policy. If she is not returning at all then you will need a long stay policy but this is unlikely to cover the subsequent trip to USA if she is returning to the UK before making that journey.

Daughter is off to Paris for 7 months to work as an assistant at a Lycee and will require medical insurance. Later next year she`s off to The USA to attend her brother`s wedding so she ideally needs one  policy which would cover both rather than 2 seperate ones. So.......a longstay which allows one to go on holiday too (Europe and the USA)
