Unfortunately, it appears that www.gameplay.co.uk don't accept prepaid cards such as the Prime. If play.com don't either, then there's no point me getting one! Damn, I was looking forwards to being able to buy from play! I have got a friend who doesn't mind ordering stuff for me, but it would be nice to be able to do it myself. Thanks for your help.

Ive had it since Christmas when i wanted to do a lot of online shopping. I haven't actually used it at any of those sites but its a Mastercard and should work wherever they accept Mastercard so far I haven't had any trouble. Obviously though you have to register your name and address on the card so when you shop online they can check the delivery address.

I know what you mean about peace of mind, for a quid I prefer to save myself any possible hassle of someone getting hold of my card details which could work out so much more costly.

    HI Dalek,

I got one of the cards for the same reason and have had no problems. Remeber though that you'll need to upgrade the card for £1.95 after you buy it but the dormancy doesnt kick in till 3 months of no use and it's never happened with me. Also the transaction fee isnt always £1 can also be 50p.

All in all does exactly what it says on the tin.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, that helps a lot. How long have you had it for and would you be so good as to tell me whether www.game.co.uk, www.play.com and www.gameplay.co.uk accept the card as far as you're aware?

I find it hard to understand why people complain about these small charges, even taking them into account, you still save loads over buying instore and furthermore, you have the peace of mind when shopping online of knowing that your main bank account is completely safe, something you don't have if using a credit card or even a debit card online. Even if someone 'only' gets hold of your debit card details, they can still clear your account out can't they?

Mastercard Prime: who's got it, any problems?

I have been looking into getting a Mastercard Prime, primarily so I can buy things online with peace of mind that, if anything goes wrong, I'd only be losing the money currently on the card. I'd be getting items costing not much more than £40 mostly and would therefore probably load only the money required onto the card and make my purchase, meaning that it is unlikely for there to be more than £40 on the card at any one time. I have thoroughly investigated the card and am well aware of the transaction fee and the reload fee, I find them to be reasonable, adding £1 to each transaction for example will still save me tons compared to buying from stores. There is also a dormancy fee of £2.95 if you don't buy something every month (or three months, still awaiting clarification), but this is no problem for me, as I easily buy at least one item a month, even if it is a £5 DVD!! Taking into account my needs for the card, would it be a good choice? Has anyone here got one of these cards and isn't experiencing problems?

Any replies would be much appreciated!
