    Re: MAC code

    Hi there,

I used to work for an ISP, so I know how difficult it can be to not only get a mac code but a working one, only to have to go back and start all over again.

I found a really useful website today, that has some great information mac code's and even a validty checker.

    Re: MAC code

Here, here I have had a nightmare with obtaining a MAC code form Pipex. God help anyone if you have the audacity to leave the Pipex Mafia (no that's flattering them, the Mafia are organised and professional). The way they behave would indicate they are on some incentive to make it a difficult and painful as possible to leave. Team Leaders are always to busy to talk to you.

They never call you back there Emails seem to be deliberately vague in order to con more money out of you.  The sooner there jobs are outsourced to India the better - they deserve to be on  the dole

Tell all your friends, post to news groups and tell them and warn everyone who will listen. Every customer we steer away costs Pipex money, so keep up the good work

Make sure you follow the Pipex Code of Practice when you complain and if you are not happy go to OFCOM

    Re: MAC code

I recently requested my MAC code from Tiscali and, surprisingly, received it by email and post quite quickly. I am in the process of changing to Sky Broadband and I am waiting for my activation date from Sky. Tiscali have told me not to cancel my credit card payment until the final bill has been paid.  After reading this and other forums, I am tempted to cancel the credit card payments immediately and let them send me a final bill that I can settle by cheque when I have checked that it is correct.  If they continue to take payments from my credit card once the service has finished, like they have done with several other customers, I couldn't face the prospect of having to chase their Customer Support/Accounts Department.  One other thing, since I requested my MAC code, my broadband speed has mysteriously slowed from 1mb to a near halt!  Funny that?

    Re: MAC code

    Oh boy!

The crying shame here is that Tiscali and Pipex are the same company.

I am not being melodramatic when I say that Pipex is probably the worst ISP in the UK and that Tiscali is rapidly catching the Pipex attitude when it comes to customer lack of service. Pipex and Tiscali are useless and regrettably there are still people who are recommending their services despite the overwhelming evidence on the forums that warns so many people of the potential problems.

Basically, you are being given the run around by a bunch of useless to55ers who couldn't find their *** with an atlas and their hands tied behind their backs. Or let me put it another way - I cancelled my contract with Pipex in 2005 - it took six months, one court case and three bailiff appearances at their offices before my issue was resolved - yes I won, but do you really want to go through that process?

Good luck, but I fear you may have walked out of frying pan and into furnace!

    SHARK!

For every positive action, there's an equal and opposite government plan.

I changed broadband providers in April of this year from Tiscaki to Pipex I was given a MAC code and used it to start with Pipex and was conected no problem , However Tiscali kept on charging me for about 6 months after changeover despite many phonecalls from me to tell them to stop , I was told on numerous occasions that it would stop and I would be refunded and eventually they have sent a cheque for part of the amount . I sent a letter of complaint and was told that Pipex did not tell them that the had started my account with them so they assumed that I was still with Tiscali . I phoned Pipex and was told that when the transfer took place Tiscali should have known automaticaly that I was no longer their customer  . Also If I am conected with Pipex it would be impossible for me to also be conected with Tiscali since only one tag can be on my line . Is Tiscali trying to insult my inteligence and what should I do next please.
