If you have online banking it will show your pre-approved overdraft/loan amounts. If it shows zero I very much doubt an application would be approved.

Check this out 1st and let us know

Im with barclays and my savings acocunt is good but my current account is usually low so I doubt id score highly. I have a First Additions acocunt tho doubt that means much as i saw the TV show that said it was all a rip off to make the bank money. Its for my upcoming wedding its in a few months but having the money now would really help I guess i dont have too much choice but to go for someone with higher rates.

    Re: Lost in Loan Land

Who do you bank with? You would normally have to run your account in good working order for a minimum of 3-6 months with no charges being applied to be eligable for a loan. Banks use an internal scoring system as well as external credit scoring so its always good to have a "high" rating within the bank itself.

Have you asked them for a overdraft facility?. What do you need the loan for and is it really that urgent? If you go to a sub prime lender you will likely to be paying 50+% APR and will cost a fortune in monthly repayments.

    Re: Lost in Loan Land

I havent in a while last time I sat down with an adviser she said I probably wouldnt get a loan due to the fact that my account balance is usually low at the end of the months and sometimes goes over drawn not by much like £20 but due to not having an over draftI got charged for that. So Im not sure whether they would accept me thats why Im worried to apply to them for a loan now.

Have you tried your bank? They are the ones who will already have a history with you. Most banks have "pre-approved" limits set for each account so it may be worth giving them a try before you look elsewhere.

    Lost in Loan Land

Hi there Im 23 years of age and I currently have 1 loan and a fair credit history. I currently looking to get another loan for £2500-3000 and I know with my history Im going to have to get a higher rate one and doubt a bank or building society would offer me one as I have a number of things going against me. Im self-employed tho my income is good and outgoings are minimal. I dont have any credit or store cards and payment history for past few years has been good. Trouble is Ive lived at current address for 2 yrs but only been on electoral role for 9 months. My oldest back account is only 2 years old. And Ive only been classed as self employed for1-2yrs also. I applied for a loan with black horse for £4000 i was accepted but only given £2000 I really need to get the other £2000 but am wary about applying to lots of companies as this will affect my credit history. The main ones i think will accept me are UCC that MS reccommends but im still wary of broker companies and notice that there are some negative comments here that justify this worry. I like citi financial but basically dont have a hope as im all the things it says i shouldnt be! self employed tenant whos 23 with no credit card. even here on MS theres noone else exept Car loan companies which are no good. I found a website called moneyexpert.com which is another loan comparison site that had loans of companies that would supposedly offer me a loan for a fair credit score tho even when I changed it to poor the same companies came up with the same rates and this makes me suspicious. Can anyone help?
