You could apply to the DWP or your local jobcentre for a budgeting loan, these are interest free and repayments taken at an agreed affordable amount from your benefit. Providing that the loan is for a essential purpose such as improving your living conditions then you may well qualify, they can be from £100 up to a max of £1500, this may at least allow you to buy the materials and do the redecoration work yourself.

Any charges acquired from selling the property can be agreed beforehand with Solicitors / agents, that they are deducted from the eventual proceeds of the house sale, once it is actually sold.

Looking for a way to get a Mortgage/Loan to redecorate an inherited property for sale while unemployed.

I have recently inherited the house I am living in after a grandparent passed away. I have been my grand parent's full timer carer for the past few years, and therefore have a large space in my employment record, which, in the current climate, as well as the area I am living, is making it difficult for me to find work.

What I would like to do is sell the property and rent in an area where I am more likely to find employment. Unfortunately, the house needs quite a bit of work to bring it up to a good condition for sale. The house itself is owned outright by myself, there is no mortgage or any other debts attached to the property.

I am looking for is a loan or possibly even a small mortgage that will provide me the money to redecorate the house ready for sale, and deal with any possible charges that may arise while selling the property. Unfortunately, I do not seem to be able to find anyone willing to offer a loan or mortgage to myself due to my lack of employment, despite the fact that I have a good credit record.

I would like some advice on possibly securing a loan/mortgage in my current circumstances, or if I should consider other options (such as "sale and rent back" or other schemes)

Thank you for your time, and any help you can give me.
