    Loan vs Credit Card

I need to spend £2000 on some dental work and initially thought of taking out a personal loan of £2000 to be repaid over 12 months. However with interst rates in double figures I wonder whether it would be better to pay for the work on a credit card and then pay off the credit card over 12 months. I should point out I have never had a credit card and am a novice in this area. I am a home owner (mortgaged) and my credit rating is good. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Re: Loan vs Credit Card

Some credit cards have promotions that give a low rate of interest for purchases over the first few (12?) months. This would be your best option but only if you can resist the temptations to take fuller advantage of the pomotion by going on a shopping spree. Use the credit card comparison tool to look for credit cards with "0% purchase" promotions. It will take at least a week between applying and receiving the credit card.

Some dental surgeries also offer finance deals that are worth comparing with other options.
