Thanks guys, I've just been onto online banking and there it is "Offers for you"!

I've made an appointment with my bank tomorrow to go over all the small print just to make sure!

    Cheers

    Re: Loan - Halifax Loan?

Your bank runs a profile on you based on how you run your accounts with them and based on that they can offer you a loan without reference to credit agencies. This changes weekly or monthly depending on money in, money out use of overdraft etc. So it is very possible that the offer you were given is true. However they may have some small print i.e. if you declare loads of other credit they reserve the right to run a search but generally get them to confirm all the details to you before you proceed and everything should be fine. Over a period of time banks build up an internal "rating". The better you run your account the higher your score is. This basically results in "pre-approved" offers being put in place. If you have online banking there is a section called "offers". This should detail the current lending facilites that are available to you.

    Hope this helps.

    Loan - Halifax Loan?

I'm needing to get a loan to sort out my stack of credit cards once & for all! I'm looking at £5000 over 3years.

I was in at my bank today and they (Halifax) have guaranteed (?) me a loan of £5000 at 7.9%, they apparently don't need to check my credit rating therefore leaving no footprint on my credit file and the loan is unsecured.

Now, call me a pessimist but i'm thinking this is a bit too good to be true?

I've done a check on here and yourpersonalloan.co.uk are offering £5000 at 6.9% (unsecured). Although my credit rating is good, I have been turned down before and am trying to keep my credit rating up by not applying for credit willynilly (I learned my lesson there a while back!)

I wouldn't mind paying the extra 1% if the Halifax loan WAS guaranteed as above, does it sound right enough?

    Cheers!
